That is a shame, looks like it can be fixed. what is the repaired boat worth? What will it cost to recover and repair the boat? if it cost more to recover and fix, than unfortunately the cheapest option might be to have it sent to the dump.

The harbormaster might be of the mind to send you the bill for crushing your boat and having it hauled off. That is what the law is where I live, the owner is responsible for the clean up costs for abandon ships. IF that is the case you may not have much of a choice but to rent the gear, and hire assistance if necessary, to get it off the beach your self. it might cost less than the bill to have the harbormaster remove it, and the land fill costs.

ah it does , sorry to hear about your happenings , but it seams like you need to act fast , is it under water or at risk of being torn apart ?

 

The harbour master says if i let him remove my yacht and break it up i wont have to pay anything but if i try to salvage it then i will have to pay all the costs of the harbour masters help but i thought they were government funded by the tax payer like police,army,fire service.

I have a friend who wants to go with me to salvage my yacht either this week or next week but if he is not succesful then i have no choice to scrap it and sell the ropes,jib & main sails,anchors,its half on the stone beach and half in sea and fills up with water every time the tide comes in,the mast shroud cables had come out so i hope the mast has not snaped with heavy waves hitting it,the yacht is lying on its side.

Hello Darren,i tried your phone but it was your answering machine,i will try again later,i have a friend with a trailer that wants to take my yacht back to Scotland but its not looking like its going to happen,i have until monday to find out what he is going to do,i paid £1,350 for the yacht and had a brand new £350 jib sail made so that adds up to £1,700,it has a brand new anchor and chain £35 including the old anchor and chain and a brand new 3 foot £48 ground scew anchor,brand new 20 metre,30 metre ropes costing £25 each so if i was to sell it to you half price for £850

I really hate to sell it i would rather repair it but what price were you thinking about?

 

Hello Darren,my yacht has now been washed further out and is submerged so it will need to be towed back onto beach.I CANT UPLOAD the harbour masters photos from my email of THE SUBMERGED YACHT so there is no way of getting to it until it is towed back to the beach,i will phone you when that will be.





Dear Mr. Muir,

Thanks for your email regarding the vessel hobbit. Unfortunately the hull has breached and we were unable to tow the vessel. We now have no alternative other than to dispose of the vessel from the shore side. It is most likely we will use an excavator to break up the vessel and remove it by trailer. I appreciate this is a sad outcome, but we really have no other options. I have attached some photos, so you can appreciate the condition of the vessel.

We will store your items for a short period. It would be helpful if you could arrange for the items to be collected.
