    Hello all, first post.

I am looking for a reputable yard in Europe, Poland, Turkey etc, etc who can build a 65ft custom steel sailing yacht hull, and possibly full build and fit-out.

The boat I want to build is already designed so just need a builder who is of good standing and would prefer a recommendation from someone rather than find out the hard way.

I am ultimately going to get quotes from a number of builders.

Thank you in advance and all replies greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Ady

The Netherlands is infested with small metal boat builders. Your designer should be able to give you some names and phone numbers.

On Boatdesign net is contributor HERMAN... the infusion glass guy... he know the market up there very well, you might ask him. Also on BDN is a small Polish builder of steel motorboats...I cant remeber his name...Ill think on it and post later

Croatia would be a good place to look.

Many of the old wooden tour boats are being replaced, upgraded, to steel to conform to EU rules. It would be worthwhile to travel to Croatia and ask the skipper owners of these tour boats their opinions on different yards. These tourboat guys treat boats as equipment, not pleasure toys, so they are very cost quality conscious. I see several of the newer tour boats are built in Split. Dont know the name of the yard

I was told that shipyard in Trogir was branching into small craft.

The shipyard Heli Yachts in Pula also is worth a look.

The island of Muerter is a traditional boatbuilding community. The shipyard Betina has very good facilities.

Croatia has a high skill level and since its EU It has an advantage over Turkey.

Unfortunately, Heliyachts shipyard has died several years ago. There is a new yard on their docks now, the Avantgard Yachts: http://www.avangard-yachts.com/
I have forgotten to include it in the previous list, but they are also building steel yachts and are certainly a valid alternative too. :)

Both Tehnomont and Avangard are situated in Pula, Croatia. The local airport is well connected to England via Ryanair, which is a point in their favor.

    Cheers

There are a few reasonably low cost compared to EU/UK yard capable steel boat builder in Bodrum and Antalya Turkey but you need to attend yard and your project full time. Essential you manage the budget, control progress payments, materials used and deliveries/installations to ensure you get value and what you agreed to pay for but for the trouble you can get a good boat that's well built.

If you want contacts to quote I'll post a list
