I have I have done some research about biocomposites in my (bachelor) thesis.
I agree with Herman that (for the moment) the availability of natural fibers for composites is a bit of a problem. Although I believe when the demand grows this problem will solve itself and the fibers would also become cheaper (then fiberglass).
The biggest problem I think are the mechanical properties. Tensile strength (per weight) of Flax fibers is about the same (or even higher) of glass-fiber so could therefore be competitive. But natural fibers are hydrophilic (absorb water) and the resins are hydrophobic (repel water), so bonding them together is a bit of a problem. Still it can be done and could be improved by drying the fibers, but isn’t perfect. And I believe (not tested) when the fibers aren’t conserved (because of a damage) they will absorb water in time and weaken the material.
There also companies experimenting with ‘natural’ resins, made of wood or corn, but they are expensive and don’t have the same (high) properties as oil based resins. Making them could also be very environmental unfriendly.
I believe that it would still take some time to perfect the materials for our needs, but it will be the future. Oil will deplete so we have to find new (or old) ways to make durable materials.

Seeing as the OP has just dumped a bunch on non-documented fluff, then bailed on the thread, it's pretty obvious what their goal was.

Comparisons and tests have been made, but inroads have yet to be mainstreamed, in spite of the insistence of the posted fluff, suggesting what it is.
