correct terminology for ballast intake/dump valves

    This has been bugging me for a while now what do you call this valve?

    Forward facing or aft facing. Forward facing is a "scoop" or "induction valve" aft facing is a "dump" or "eductor valve"...similiar but different from a Elvstrom eductor/bailer.

    The valve that seals a ballast tank is historically called a Kingston valve after the inventor. Many different forms. Edit to add. The "type' of valve shown is a flapper valve, they can also be gate, butterfly, sleeve, etc.
