Does anybody here own a Cromarty 36?

It was originally designed by the same architects who drew the Fishers, and produced by Blondecell in Lymington, UK. They also made hulls for Sunseeker at the time, so their quality standards were quite high. There were only made about 20 of them, but nowadays World Marine Partnership is producing them again in the far east. More info here: http://www.cromarty36.co.uk/

I have one of the first series of 20, built in the nineties, and it still satisfies me perfectly. I must add to that that I have been testing sailing and motorboats for a living, before I retired as a watersports journalist, and I've never encountered anything in the same size that fitted my needs so well.

I'd like to meet some of the other owners.

Some years ago you posted on boatdesign.net forum, searching for other Cromarty 36 owners. I am not an owner but, like you, have been captivated by the Cromarty's unique design.

So I am currently looking at a couple of Cromarty's with a view to buying. I was wondering if you have any advice or ideas about what I should look out for. In particular I am interested to know if you feel a bow thruster is essential - I am looking at one with and another without.

And should I buy one, it would good to have established contact with a fellow owner that is interested in corresponding and exchanging notes.

    Regards

    Hi Tots,

I'm not home for the moment (on holiday in Meloneras, Gran Canaria, but not with the boat; unfortunately). In any case, I don't have a bow thruster on Sally and I never wished I had one. But then again, Iv'e had it for over 20 years now, so I think I should know how to handle it... I hope...

It's still a wonderful boat, and I met someone last year in Holland who had one too, a fellow countryman of yours, and he was planning to sell it. perhaps it's one fof the two you're looking at.

OK, let's keep in contact and let me know if and when you have made the best boat buy you will ever make.

    Best regards

    Luc

Don't mind the typing errors, an iPad is nice, but typing on it is a pain in the neck.

    Cromarty 36

    Hi,

I've owned a Cromarty 36 since 1995. She's now called Concord but was built as Korresia which was hull number 10. Following retirement we've sailed in the Baltic and are currently in the Adriatic. Never found a better boat for leisurely cruising. Just for the record, I don't have a bow thruster either.

I've made a lot of fine tuning alterations over the years to make long term cruising more comfortable. If you'd like further information or have any questions, please ask.

    Best wishes,

    Stuart Bradley
