I downloaded the Seaclear and the NOAA raster charts, put a small gps device, and I have a very good and workable chart plotter on my laptop for $25.00 (the gps device)
For me until now it worked perfectly, but I was wondering if some members have long term experience with this system and what they think about.

    Thank you

Thank you, I will take a look for curiosity.
Can it take the NOAA raster charts?

Yes, it can. Here's the link to the manual. See ""Installing charts".
For download go to the front page.

I was using SeaClear for a while on a notebook computer. It is actually easy to use but the instructions are not even as clear as mud. Once you figure it out it is very simple. The charts can be downloaded from NOAA and are free. I installed the charts on a 16GB USB memory stick and that worked well because they don't take up space on your hard drive. You can find help with it on a Yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/seaclear_mapping/
