    With the testing of liquid penetrant will not get to the root of the weld.

    For the root we want to control with UT ultrasound or x-ray on film.

    But in this case for UT you have difficulty for small thicknesses (4 mm) and because it is a fillet.

    The x-ray is an expensive process but we can see the microcracks

    I enclose a photo of some work with NDT UT and RT.

    The first thing I want to say is my admiration for the interest you show in getting high quality. The aluminum shipbuilding is associated with quality and this leads to expensive processes. Therefore, it is important to correctly define the sequence of work to not do building still more expensive.
    In my opinion, a correct procedure would have been:
    - Root welding from one side (on the inside).
    - Turning the hull.
    - Cleaned up the root, by mechanical means, and dye penetrant testing.
    - Final welding on the outside.
    It's just my opinion and I do not mean that the process that you have followed is incorrect. Among other things because I do not know what was.

    Hello Tansl your sequence is correct and we do Butt weld joints (butt)
    In Italy we say "upside down."

    In the case of the picture we welds "corner" or FILLET with support made ​​from the same sheet of 4 mm.

    Weld with support is much better ..

    In addition to controls NDT, has made a test water filling the inside of water up to 40 cm.

    After the visual inspection of external leakage is completed with the internal sealing.

    sea trial

    It 's time sea trial.
    Engine 9.9. hp. boat weight empty 270 kg

    A bit of speed ... the hull is ok .. no heel ... 4 people on board ... the shoe performs well and rides the waves

    I do not know how to post the video of the water test ...

    The result is at least satisfactory and we go to the final outfitting and small improvements

    It 'hard to prove email with the thrill of seeing how fast is the boat that you built from aluminum sheet ...

    I have a problem, and I'm thinking to post it in the front. But I'm stumble upon your post, and I guess I'll ask you instead.

    How do you weld the inner bottom plate (the floor that you stand upon) to its framing with such limited access on the double bottom ?
