Converting monohull into trimaran

I know this has been discussed before but..... I'm thinking if you find the right hull combine it with Kurt Hughes sliding beam design with some reinforcement stronger rigging and a little know how it could work..... I hope.

1) Why a tri? I'm NOT looking for a racer I'm looking for a mid weight coastal cruiser that can be launched off a boat ramp and to me a trimaran fits this description.

2) Why convert a mono hull? In my area all the harbors are at capacity with a ten/fifteen year waiting list so there are a lot of decent sailboat on trailers going for cheap. Interior space wouldn't be too shabby ether.

3) BUT YOUR DESTROYING A CLASSIC. Well it depends on how you look at it. On one hand it could never be return to original condition but on the other it beats rotting on the hard waiting for a slip that may never come.

 

You intend to tow it on public roads ? Will it comply with width limits ?

 

If i remove the floats for transport it will. My states width is 9'

 

OK, I thought you were just going to concertina them in to sit against the main hull. It does complicate matters though.
