Hi everyone, just moved into a seasonal site at a campground. We are allowed to have pontoons with electric motors. The lake is basically just an oversized pond. I searched a little bit but nothing to build a small flat deck pontoon? Can anyone help? Want it budget and probably 6x10 or so. I've been trying to google plastic float tubes but don't know exactly what to get or from where. Just for me, the wife and kids to sit on with some folding chairs and maybe fish, nothing fancy. Any help? Thank you

A ten foot pontoon boat will be too short to safely accommodate a family of four. You could build such a boat with two flat ended boxes measuring 10 feet long, and 16 inches by 16 inches. Each float would support, roughly 1000 pounds. You must have the pontoons dimensioned so that only one of them would support the entire anticipated load. If you build such a boat make it longer and perhaps wider. 14 feet by seven feet minimum. More is better for both safety and comfort.

Somewhere on this forum there is a source for plastic floats that link together to form whatever length you want. Quite clever and probably viable for your intended use. Because the floats are in segments, transportation and storage is much simplified. Use the forum search function to discover the source. I believe that the manufacturer is in Florida.

Ok thank you very much. I searched pontoon tubes with no luck. If anyone has any info that would be great. I'll continue to search.

I did the search at the top right and just a trailer came up. Thanx for pulling those up but way to big and complicated. I really appreciate it but looking for something that is easy with just tubes and flat deck. Thanks again

If you are thinking aluminum pontoons, they are very expensive. Glen-l has plans for just the pontoons. very simple and you add whatever flat deck you want. Basically a swim platform.

Yes basically that's all I want is a swim platform that i can just add some rails. Not looking for aluminum, seen some plastic tubes. I emailed a company about plastic tubes. I basically need to know where to get some 8' plastic tubes that have some sort of mounts with bolts on top, drill holes in treated plywood, put down some indoor /outdoor carpet, eye bolt for an anchor, cheap aluminum trim, bolt down some side rails and done. Thanx for all the help, will check out link

You can check Bateau Pontoon cat 20 although It seems to be to much work (and too big) for the usage you described.
