    Hi Will,

I assume that all the plugs and connectors are the same of the various sensor devices. What happens if you swap a different device to the plug of the faulty gauge after reading the result of the good device, is it still the good result or does it also jumps to a high value?
    a) If still the same result. The other device is the faulty one and internally you have to track the cold solder contact or a loose wire to the sensor.
    b) It also jumps to a different value. You have a wire in the CAN connector, loose, bad solder contact or whatever.

But it is difficult to get to the bottom of the problem, as we have very little information to go on. Bert

    Hi Will,

I am curious. Did you find the fault. Was it a cold contact on the pcb of your sensor unit? Or was it something totally different?

Sorry Gents... I haven't had a chance to get back and progress things yet.
I'm going to try hooking up one of the other gauges as a simple test next. Will let you know how I get on...

    Update.
Simple check...plug the connector for the fuel gauge into the trim gauge.
Gauge works as normal (as a trim gauge), which confirms as I suspected that a) the connection from tank-engine 'loom' to gauge is ok and that b) gauge is the likely culprit.
To further prove the case, I remembered that the digital readout on the multi-function tacho has a fuel gauge on it! (I never used it because the twit for reasons unbeknownst to me had hooked the fuel send wires up to the 'tank #2' connectors in the Yanmar loom. So...I connect the sender to the 'tank #1' connectors and hey presto!...I have a fuel gauge. Ergo...that gauge is stuffed...

And after all that, since it is not one of my critical gauges...I may just swap it for a clock!! :D

BTW - all that also confirms that the digital signal does in fact get converted into an analogue one within the gauges themselves..
