DARPA Design Challenge & Collaborative Design Software

Not sure if anyone is familiar, but the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) is running a series of design challenges in order to test out new methods for designing and building complex electro-hydro-mechanical-etc systems. This ought to be of interest to BoatDesign.net for two reasons:

1. The test case is a Marine amphibious vehicle, so some of the time it is a boat. The winners of the challenges can win $1M for the second (hull) and $2M for the third (full vehicle). The first challenge did not involve hull forms. Teams will likely need to NA skills to complete their design.
2. All of the software developed to host the design challenge is open source and freely available for co-opting for boat design uses, such as collaborative design projects. BoatDesign.net could run with it.
