For a couple hundred bucks you could put up a 'temporary shed' like the vehicle canopies for sale at Lowe's and similar places....

They are usually 10 or 20' long, so you might need one of each to cover the Bucc...but they come with sides and can be heated in winter.

    Well, it's an option... :)

    neighors, neighors, neighbors. deed restrictions....

if Ive learned anything from this its that I dont plan on spending my retirement (the neighbors) drunk on my porch screaming at the peolple next door for building something cool. Id put my $100k rv (which they have) to use and leave town for a bit instead of dying on my front porch screaming about a lousy sander. do I sound angry?? hahahaha.

I know it's only a month but winter must have descended on you.
Have you been able to make any advance on your build :?:

Winter here is being wierd this year, cold then hot again. We have stopped work until spring but I think we are going to try and get a little done next weekend. As it stands... this is what is left.

In spring, Haul boat to local yard and get it up on stands.
    1. Cut out rotten bottom of mainhull and scarf in new ply
    2. Repair cabin top broken stringer, sister in a few more stringers/joints to strengthen cabin top
    3. finish sanding cabin top, repair
    4. inspect centerboard and trunk
    5. install companionway hatch board slides
    6. build a sliding hatch
    7. SAND EVERYTHINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
    8. paint whole boat
    9. paint interior

ugh... sounds like another year of no sailing.:confused:

I bought plans for a Richard Woods Strike 18 so I will begin building my personal tri here in the next month in a storage/garage. :D

My copy of the plans which print poorly are being restored as a labor of love by a forum member and will be available when there available.

    north american 28s

OS, would you have any idea the number of 28s that were built in North America? I realize there were never many, but I still hold out hopes of finding one. I envy 2Far, even if his boat has a lot of work left, it looks as if it is really going to be nice. I hope it doesn't take all year, but I also know how rebuild projects grow.

    distance

RR, all you would have to do it get it to the other side of your little "island":D It would be a really long trip for me. You guys have all the fun boats.
Buzz, thanks for posting those anyway, its nice to see what I am missing, and 2Far can see what he should have finished soon.
The more I see of the 28s, the more I think it would be "right sized" for me. I am also pretty sure it would adapt to folding, making it even more desirable.

I'm thinking RR needs to take a long holiday.....

.....and sail the boat home!! :) :)

There are plenty of hard stands in coastal QLD, as the laws in that State allow live-aboard, so loads more people do...and they need hard stands to DIY maintenance usually rather than a slip and contractor....

So it shouldn't be too hard to slip it and check it's seaworthiness.

Add a small stove, a couple of water containers and some tucker, and leapfrog around the SE coast. Good time to do it before the Forties shift north in winter...
