Simply make it up

So many people seem to pop up in he marine industry that have no idea.... so who writes the copy that gets pasted to the website? In this case it was probably the website designer judging by the content.

That article makes me wince. You would think they could find someone who actually knows what they’re talking about to write the blurb from an outfit that claims an R&D department.

They confuse Galvanic cells with Electrolytic cells and state that the anode is more positive (More noble) that the metal protected , and they also state that electrons travel from Positive to Negative.

[font=&quot]I haven't looked through the rest of the site I thought the preamble said it all.

Presumably they'll get around to discovering (through R&D) the way it really works soon and will re-write things so these comments will be out of date. In the mean time the technical folk will find this quite funny.

 

It is a confusing article with A/C issues mixed in. They make several mistakes. For example, that bad wiring at marinas is usual and the main cause of corrosion. Also, that the ground and neutral being bonded at the dock wiring makes a difference. Ultimately they are the same: Earth's potential.
Check out "YANDINA", their "R&D department". Apparently they discovered how to dismast

What a bunch of ****** that outfit is. Obviously even to a layman like me that they have no idea. Though to many they appear great proffessors of knowledge I am sure.

Seems to be a problem in the unregulated marine industries (ie non commercial) that you target a profit area and market your socks off, and don't let anything like facts get in the way of a good selling point.

Is anyone going to tell them that they really need to learn something of the field?

Its the salesman approach that they call "All Mouth and Trousers" In another post (http://boatdesign.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6015&page=11&pp=15) you were talking of the salesman saying that "yachts never need to heave-to these days" I thoght that was a very similar example of the "Mouth and Trousers".

Seriously, that site Mike mentions looks sketchy. They're trying to sell their $150 isolator, that's all. They clearly don't care that the average Grade 10 student knows more about galvanic corrosion than their web author. While their science is sort of OK it is overly simplified, test data appears lacking, and they push their product hard enough to make me question their motives. Just another day in the modern market economy.... I somehow doubt that their mystery box actually does a damn thing.

 

Actually it does one thing - it parts a fool from his money at speed! I'm jealous, wish I'd thought of it (the box is probably a collection of wires etc joined to each other and looks good)

Reminds me of the guy on the train minding his own business. Guy gets on carrying a large box, wire coming from everywhere, obviously very heavy
