It sounds like they need to be more solid.
You need to give more information, like what the boat looks like, the size, the power, how it was built.
If the boat is always drumming and vibrating, whatever that means, it might just fall apart sooner rather than later.

Cure the vibration,-- not cure being able to hear it. If it that bad It will eventually cause mechanical damage.

The gloom and doom predictions aren't likely reasonable. My first question to a client with these types of questions is to politely ask how much boating experience they have. More often than not, they have little experience and didn't realize the boat would pound so much in a chop on certain headings (or something). If they do have some experience, then the first place to look is the drive, starting with the prop as Gonzo correctly points out. Checking the torque on the mounts, etc., on up the line . . .

If you cant answer change the question. Pounding in chop is not what was asked.

Amazing mind reading when it was not stated if it was a shaft, outboard or even a jet.

My Crystal ball is in for a service so I said cure the vibration not just being able to hear it.

Frosty: stop being such a butthead. You keep on making obnoxious remarks and interfering with the discussions.

I'm beginning to wonder just how vague a question can be before it definitely slips into the category of 'wtf?'.

Customers are rarely technically knowledgeable enough to make an accurate description. It takes some coaching to get the story right.

I dont agree I made a sensible diagnosis on information given. The op has a customer he obviously knows what chop is.

( my customer said when driving my boat)

    You are stopping the discussion.

Please be polite to other members, calling names is included.

    Sam sam agreed.

Amazing how people jump in to answer a question before knowing what it is.

The OP also needs some coaching about how to ask a question.

His boat hums ????? What boat ? Hydrofoil, Offshore racer at 60knts, crab skiff with a seagull...a row boat

Who knows ? perhaps the onboard stereo system is turned up to high ? or the boat needs an Exorcist ?

Come to think of it....always drumming....vibrations....are they good vibrations?....maybe you trapped the Beach Boys in the bilge when you built it.
