Can you cut anything with a knife if it is thin enough? Of course you can. The inflateable coast guard boats can be slashed with a knife, and I'd know because I knew of a kid that totaled one because of a grudge.

There is nothing in a saltwater enviornment to really attack aluminum, including cleaning solvents. If you are serious about this you need to find out.

This is not really true, otherwise aluminum boats wouldn't need sacrificail material to keep them from reacting.

I just told you that beer cans are not useful material for boats, take it or leave it.
I have never found the need to throw a boat hull against concrete, but any material will be destroyed grinding on concrete.

It means that a pressurized vessel made from PET can take an impact a lot better than 3104-H19 aluminum vessel. What that is worth, I do not know yet.

A pet bottle will last a lot less time than normal marine grade aluminum, or fiberglass.

They say plastic bottles take up to 400 years to decompose, I don't think lifespan is an issue. Any boat would probably be worn out or damaged before that type of timespan. IE aluminum pontoons that are 40 years old with leaks.

A rubber hot water bag for heating up sore muscles will not bust thrown up against concrete, but you would not make a boat of it. You keep bringing up useless comparisons.

Maybe I'm trying to rationalize, with the experience and imagination that I have. BTW rubber infateable pontoons exist.

You need to research some engineering facts is you want a discussion. With someone else, I should not have wasted my time trying to help.

I'm not saying I have all the answers, I'm not saying a pressurized PET pontoon would work, I'm just saying that maybe it could work, and I think it could.
I find it interesting to think and talk about, if this offends you, I'm sorry to have wasted you're time.
