The system has two simple bulkheads that carry all loads throughout the structure of the Trimaran central hull and the same in each float "KISS" has been at the forefront throughout development. I have sailed and built cats since a child I knew little of the Trimaran format from a personal hands on front, however having just finished a contract building in that field we are happier to progress the Trimaran development.

We looked at the Irens/Bieker Trinado, Humdinger (as it was for sale in the States) as mentioned in a post above http://www.ptwatercraft.com/ptwatercraft/Trinado_molds.html and came very close to signing the check to purchase the boat and molds in 2010/2011 etc but felt the Buc was a better test bed as there are so many around to bench mark against and the Buccaneer 24' design in our opinion is for a great little boat that delivers so much, so a modern design upgrade of the Buc is perhaps long over due, we read further up in the postings someone believed a designer should offer it a freshen up, it would take a big set of clangers to think you could better what Lock designed while retaining all it's features from simplicity, price and hours from build to water and downright fun for buck spent.

As promised in prior post the Test Mule for prototyping has arrived at the workshop at Midnight New Zealand time on 4th Dec 2012 so by the time it was unloaded single handed and photo's taken and uploaded is now the Am of the 5th Dec 2012. Photo's are available at

Best $250NZ one could ever spend that included everything ready to sail excluding motor plus the original building plan set, plus a copy of plans that were used to build from.
It has some panel damage to outer skins of one bow of STB float and stern to deck join of Port float less than a sheet of ply to repair, also needs the glass job removed from bottom of all three underwater sections and fit the rolled seam joined inner sleeve pipes to the beams as it was being made into trailer able by way of being demountable by prior owner as per the plans.
Now over time we will under take the work on it and undertake prototyping of the EZIFOLD folding system on it.

Hey it is a place for sharing Buc builds/rebuilds so thanks for the luck we are doing this first and foremost for ourselves and the facebook page is no different to a website we simply use it instead of a blog far simpler. Each to their own.

A place for sharing! That sounds awful, next we might have to talk about our feelings. Wait a sec, something about those dates is starting to make sense...

    I don't do "Facebook" either.
I am too concerned with my privacy, having had my site hacked twice now.
I never give my E-mail address to anyone I do not know. I only transmit personal information by Private Messaging, and even that sparingly.
If you feel you can't put your information straight onto this forum, then don't bother. :(

At your request we won't bother, in the past we have found this forum to be of similar ilk hence we seldom visit, probably the most experienced Buc owner extreme racer limit pusher is right here in our own back yard and also Gary with his innovative mind and experience also in the same area, so Nick will have discussions with Sam/Gary when it gets up to Auckland in the New Year.. all the best to you.

Paddy you hurt his feelings....I don't use the things much myself but I have a few...sordid desire-keeps me checking out hot boats, resignation-helps with not being able to afford the same, whimsical optimism -keeps me sailing with a sense of humor the boats that do come along......I've heard people try to connect but I always thought it had to do with a right cross or uppercut in which case I'd want a winch handle....

    CAV.
I try to post things without "Hurting peoples feelings".
If this particular poster feels hurt at what I said then that is his problem, not mine.
It doesn't help things when he used a copyright picture of mine for a commercial purpose, without having the courtesy to ask my permission. :(

OS7 no feelings hurt here, you market yourself as the go to guy for Buc 24' information on here, others we have respected also come on here and discussed the Buc in a manner we thought would provide valuable information and assistance going forward with our own project utilising the Buc 24' as a test mule so our thoughts were there could possibly be no better place to seek out advise and information why try to create through elimination what has been tried and tested.... apologies if we used a photo of yours for commercial purposes we have removed the two photo's that I can think of regarding the Buc 24' that might have held your copy right, apologies again, do you hold copy right to the plans? or the photo? of the buc we posted saying this is an example of what we are purchasing if the plans are not easily understood?
