Make of boat? (Glasspar G3)

Hi it been awhile.I just purchased another project boat today and have no idea who made this little boat the previous owner said it was a race boat in the 50,s? with a Johnson 50hp, its very light 13.5ft, someone painted it red even the rub rails has blue metallic paint underneath and large fins? on the sides.The speedometer has a ammeter in the middle.Any info would be appreciated.

I have a almost new 70 2 stroke Yamaha to go on her after restoring.The transom is 14" for a short shaft I will lift it to 20" and I would imagine trim tabs a must.Will this combination work or will I go air born?

 

If it works properly it should go airborne. That is the nature of high performance boats. Have fun.

Good thanks.I found Its a Glasspar G3 made around 1960.Haven't had time to work on it but wish I did, great boating weather here .Working on the Bayliner wiring its going on third and last weekend for a while got to get the little one on the water.

 

The boat is under a foot of snow now, but I managed to get a little done this summer and heres my progress. I need a heated garage now to finish.Oh I covered the top of the floor with epoxyshield garage floor paint LOL I wonder how that will hold up? Was a rush job and intended to get it on the water before this winter.I cant believe the time it takes to finish these projects.

Nice find on the Glasspar G3 The grab bars are not OME. Do ya have better pic's of the top side? Most had a seperation between fore and aft compartment.
You will not need tabs if that yamaha has power trim. We used 90Hp merk and worked fine, but a hand fulll if not experanced.

Just finished an 1965 sedan that was much worse.

Thanks BreathlessAk.90HP that would get the adrenaline going thats for sure.No separation between fore and aft that I can tell.I totally agree I could not find a G3 with these grab bars? .The way they are mounted with round head stainless bolts and stainless bars they almost look OEM.The guy I bought it from said it was raced in the late 50,s but I cant find any info on line.The Yamy has power everything and I will follow your advice and leave the tabs off like you said.
Restored a light 12ft 1952 that had a V hull like a fishing boat not a racing hull with controls and I mounted a 94 25hp on it with trim tabs and they worked perfect was fast for me at 38 MPH.Could crank it sideways and the boat would stay flat,a racing hull I would assume would act different. I purchased the boat for $400.00 with the trailer.

The length off this boat is 13ft from front to back without motor.

Sorry boatandfun, the boat in question doesn't look anything like any Bayliner Capri I've ever seen!

Hello there.Got the transom all glassed and painted its done looks good,Left the hull red and painted the wings on the side silver and the top white.New steering cables foam insulation for under the floor- yet to do.Hope to get at it again soon need some fun for the summer.My 2750 has been taking all my spare time the last few mths with steering,tilt and outdrive rebuild its been taking all my money too LOL.
