Suppose to be a singer but lets leave it at that. One Minoque was enough but a second one at that and ten times worse than her sister....

Random pictures, right? This is a picture of my mother's grandfather, that I found on the internet last night.

    Troy,

Looks just like you, except for the hat, the beard and what I can see of the hair.

I just learned how garbled genealogy information can be on different sites. After digging further, that turned out to be my mother's great grandfather instead--or possibly even his brother. Here's a picture of her grandfather in the midst of his family. The little guy at the bottom right is her dad, the grandfather I'm named after.

Actually, I'm named after both grandfathers. Apparently there was a question about whether I would be Troy Warren, or Warren Troy, and my dad lost. I'm not saying he was a stubborn man, but he called me Warren anyway for 18 years, until I left home.

When he switched to calling me Troy like the rest of the world does, I never got used to it. Every time he did it, I automatically looked around for my granddad.....

Add: that habit of solemnly staring at the camera still seems to run in the family. I remember my mother blowing up in exasperation a few years before her death, and asking, "would it kill you boys to smile for once, when someone's taking your picture?!?"

I'll bet you're making that up, because I doubt anyone in my family has ever used the word 'laddy.' He'd have said, "if you think I'm tough, son....";)

And one more, to round out the family portraits. I don't even remember this picture being taken, but I found it on the internet and it's definitely me... from way back when Moby Dick was a minnow and I was young.

Christ had just lost his sandals in the desert, when that photo was taken. Is that a daguerreotype?
