Yes, my sarcasm didn't come out in print very well.
My point was that if Mr Hughes was a little more considered before he committed rubbish like that to his blog, people might have a bit more confidence in what he commits to his plans, and he might sell more.

When you read stuff that Ian Farrier writes, you get the impression that he has considered it very carefully and just stuck to the facts. He has sold a lot of plans/boats!

Integrity has a lot to do with being a designer. Mr Hughes doesn't mind chucking it away!

The Tremolino on the Golden Oldies site has the New Moon amas Dick pioneered to give dynamic lift and more power, they take a 17 knot boat into the 20s....
Ah well, Kurt won't get business from me. I'd rather build any Newick, the ride suits me fine and the style and class are unparalleled.

    Re: The 'Super-Star' - yea right ! ! !

Gooday mate. To you 'PNW' sailor - Team-v - Lucky-smokes (well that was there names whend I was a kid - last century - eh)

Hey - 'pakia-kid' - I did get your humour - from across the 'puddle' -I just wanted you to make sure that everyone else got that you were - 'tongue-in-cheek' - meaning Kurt Hughes as - a known world leader of multihull design - who will go down in history - as one of the all time best -YEAH - RIGHT N O T

Lucky-smokes - He - Kurt Huches - invented what ??? I'd think N O T - he may have given an already used technique a few twitches or a newer title but I'd need to see his 'world-wide patent' in hard cold print - before I'd believe he 'invented' anything.

Cav. - you as well as some others - know full well how very proud I am of being a 'PNW'er' (Pacific North Western person) born & bread there - just like many others - of course.

You might be able to tell me how I totally renounce my 'PNW citizenship' at least while Kurt Hughes has his vitriolic bigoted mouth open & in print - before he looks in the mirror & has a reality check. History may well look back & say Kurt who ??? but the lesser designers - that he's made a bloody fool of himself - running down - have already been well recorded in the history of multihulls as being world leaders & innovaters. He sweeems to have an ego bigger than a whole football team - but little common sense in any way.

He makes me so ashamed - that I came from a place - anywhere near where he comes from - & I'm sure 1/2 the American multihull sailing public - may well feel the same. To all of them - I do humbly appologise for his - untimely rant. I would he stopped dragging the whole world-wide multihull movement down to his very low level - we don't want to be down there with him.

    Now I'll finish my little - spit-the-dummy. Sorry guys but - he's a yukky ! !

Enjoy sailing & watch those 'foils' being used in the AC 45's - some of them even turn boats to miss obstructive committe boats - Oooops. Ciao, james

You're right James, he didn't invent cylinder molding. I don't think he claimed to.....just grabbed it and ran. You shouldn't be ashamed of the PNW because of Kurt, after most of us don't sail his designs. It does make me wonder if we encourage knock off artists and what that says about the area.....leaving the country to protest seems too easy though. I'll just redouble my efforts to smuggle enough gubs to start the revolution. And you know who we'll make walk the plank first....No wonder Marples and Farrier left.....it is embarrassing.

We heard Russell's crash was the result of some Kiwi gamesmenship. It seems one of the crew told Russell Kurt Hughes was on the committee boat so he tried to redeem America's honor.

Is all this really necessary ? Are we exporting tall poppy syndrome now ?
Kurt Hughes has a formidable body of work and he's not done yet.
I'm neither for or against, do like the latest tri though.

Personally I don't have much time for the designs of Brown/Marples and only a very few of Newicks but I respect what they have done immensely !

Mr Raven it is clear from your posts here you have vast knowledge and experience, but fair dinkum mate when you start raving on in your yobbo FNQ wozzer ocker speak some of it is damn near indecipherable !

See it's very easy to set upon someone and find fault.
    Lighten up people !
    Respect,
    RR.

All do respect RR but it has to be earned and is not a given. As current or former PNW people we have a fair bit of local perspective (well, maybe loco for James) and feel keenly the lack of professionalism exhibited by our export H product Hughes who should know better and since he doesn't maybe he will contemplate the errors of his ways, withdraw the offending article and grow up. Now this sort of higher learning hasn't been in evidence yet over many years but here is to hoping. To start the ball rolling I'll refrain from further comment other than do say "Use CAD, don't be one!"

KH has always bagged other designers, whats new? what he says is true the Newicks are pretty slow, why is everyone so upset about it?
Then again the KH boats iv been on have no space downstairs and are very flexy and only fast in some conditions so not exactly the answer either...

I've found dealing with Kurt Hughes to be perfectly ok with no evidence of the lack of professionalism that Cav and SR claims, he has a bit of delay in answering emails probably due to the number of amateur owner/builders he deals with. Full credit to him though he has continued to update his plans. For example for my formula 40 tri plans he did the scantling for the updated carbon beams and redrew the reverse bow cylinder mold float bows and included it in the standard plans cost, something I'm sure a lot of designers would charge extra for.

With Farrier pulling out of plan sales things must be slow enough that they all might update at no extra charge.
Speaking of bagging, poppies and charges I'd better clue in RR about gubs. Red, gubs are small invisible creatures that can appear to be anything....while almost everyone in America runs something I chose not to and so smuggle and sell gubs for something to do while everyone else is busy. They usually hang around long enough for me to clear the harbor before people find out they didn't really buy anything. Kurt Hughes is a regular customer and uses them to pose as manners when paying customers call. He runs out frequently........ I'm sending you a trial batch....they will appear to be Interpol agents checking out your interest in poppies. Hopefully this will reassure the real authorities.
