    Hallo everyone,
I am having difficulties creating the surface based on my station lines and the rabbet line.
The mid-section of the hull loft predictably well, but i cannot manage to get a surface that nicely ends in the rabbet line in the bow and extends correctly further aft than the aft most station line.

I have had a look around on the forum for other suggestions such as using the network surface function, but have just not managed to achieve an acceptable surface.

I have attached the Rhino file in case someone would be willing to help me.

Once i have done this surface, I am planning to use the surface to then be able to 'trim' frames that i would enter into the model. The pipe dream is to built an accurate 3d model of HMS Pandora from the keel up.

I would be super grateful if someone could help me with the file or point me in the right direction,
    thank you very much:),

Sorry I can't open your file because it says it was made with a newer version of Rhino. One general piece of advice is to make sure your curves are nice and fair with as few control points as possible before making any surfaces.

Did you see this recent thread:
    http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/design-software/rhino-hull-drawing-43861.html

There are some good tips in there about hull modeling. In Rhino there are 10 ways to do anything and each designer will have his own preferred methods. Just keep playing with it. Try different tools. loft, sweep, networksrf, extrude, edge

    Good luck.

Thank you for your advise DavidJ,

i rebuild the curves to have 14 points each and it already looks sooooo much better. I extended the surface in the direction of the Cap rail so that when i 'insert' my frames they actually go up to the cap rail.

I am still not 100% happy with the surface though, especially the bow area. I am just worried how much i can smooth it before i go to far away from the original lines of the ship. Any advise on improving my surface would be greatly appreciated

I have uploaded an rhino 4 file and a dxf in case that works better, (i am using the Rhino for Mac)

Thank you for your comments, great learning from you guys,
    Janka

Jankatanka some times it is better to create a surface that goes above the end of the sections then using the outline of the true edge to trim off the surface rather than trying to do it all in one. Here is a quick file using this method. Section line extended plus bow line then created the bow section with “networksrf” and lofted the rest. Then trimmed the surfaces with the cap rail profile. Because the cap rail has corners the hull surface was divided into some extra surfaces so I used the join command to group them as one.

    bhnautika,
thank you very much, that is looking very nice indeed.
I havnt really gotten the hang of "networksrf" but i will experiment with it some more, hopefully i can work it out.

thank you again, will let you guys know as i progress and surely run into more difficulties ;-)
