The boat I bought a few months ago has a 1982 PCM 6.9L diesel (International engine marinized by PCM). I can't find any manuals on the PCM motor. Can anyone tell me whether or not the thermostat used on a marinized motor would be the same as the automotive version of the motor? I want to replace the t-stat since the boat sat unused for many years, but not sure if the Ford Dealer part for the Ford application of the 6.9L engine is the same.

    Thanks.

Assuming the engine has a heat exchanger, it is OK to use the standard automotive thermostat.

Thanks. In absence of any other info, that would be my only choice anyway. My simple minds tells me that in a closed loop system, the t-stat should open at the same temp to maintain the same stabiled operating temp regardless of the application and method of external cooling (radiator vs heat exchanger.)
