I have a 25 ft. tritoon I/O with a 5.7 with an alpha 1 outdrive that doesn't have power steering. Can a PS unit be installed aftermarket? How much is involved and any estimates on cost? Thanks.

Teleflex makes a very nice unit, but pricey.

If you have push - pull cable steering now the next natural upgrade would be to hydraulic. Power steering is a quantum leap.

Now Mercruiser does have a power steering option that uses a conventional automotive power assist pump belted to the engine. I see these in OEM installations in larger twin installs, but it would e VERY pricey to retrofit one and I would not want to drive a boat with a cobbled together steering system.

go to a large dealer as you might get lucky as when doing a twin install you only use one ram so its it removed from the 2nd transome plate and if they didnt use the priority valve twin pump setup then they removed that off the engine as well, you then have all the parts needed
