The oil and gas industry never gave me any money, either. Warmnologists be damned.

And if I started a thread "How the sun affects the tides", don't you think it would be appropriate for someone to say, the sun doesn't affect the tides? :)
Or maybe you think it does? :D

Something does affect it becasue when i look and see the tides in and it gets dark and the sun is gone and the next morning comes and the suns back the tide is either there or gone or coming or going !,so somthing must be affecting it ?? dont you think!!! it must be the moon jesus wayne i never gave that a second thought !!
But if the moon affects the tide at nigh then !! the sun must be affecting it during the day right ?? but what about when the sun and moon are up in the sky at the same time ?? man this is so confusing !! i think i'll just twiddle me knobs and watch a re-run on tv again!!:(

    Good one Yoppers!

We all know the tides are controled by the Illumatti not the sun.

    How is your Polka band?

    Yabbers,

I am all for Free speech, but I think Doublespeak aka BS is exactly what is wrong with our World. You have the right to say what you will, but good God give us a break. Do you believe half of what you post?

I am wondering what "culling the herd" as to do with denying climate change and given PDW's criteria: "Therefore, the false statement is deliberate, or in other words, is a lie", I am curious if your statement about the"Elite" is an outright lie or are you just filling space by yabbering about "those in favor of lower population"?

Allan (humming one my favorite Polka tunes and smiling)

Does your Polka band perform often? Does the rest of your band wear lederhosen too?

variverrunner, maybe you read their tripe for amusement as I did at first, but it just became belligerent, inane, repetitive and so totally barmy and paranoid that I found there was no option but to put the loonies on "ignore".

It's a little difficult to figure out how to do it, but you click on the offender's name, then on the drop-down list select "View Public Profile", then it's a little hard to see, but under their name will be a link "Add eightyape to Your Ignore List".

    Conversations suddenly become more rational!!

    I attack the issue.
    Ya'll attack the people.
Who has the higher moral ground?
    US!
Had to tell you, or you'd have 'guessed' wrong again! :D

    Polka Bands in Mexico?

    Yobbers.

As a reminder, this is a Boat Design forum and the subject of this thread is changes to our Oceans.

This forum is about exchanging information and increasing understanding.

What issue are you attacking? Population reduction? What does that have to do with ocean currents?

I really do believe that your and your comrades nearly constant doublespeak is an example of the actual root of what is going wrong with our World. Are your yabbers just meant as a confusing factor to hide Reality?

The Truth does actually matter. Do you understand that an honest person speaks the Truth? It seems not.

I think most people believe that the Moral High ground belongs to those that speak the Truth, even when it is unpleasant.

There must be plenty of forums that are actually relevant to your Attacks.
Why don't you take your attacks there?

You must have a lot of courage to try and make a living in Mexico with your Polka band.

Good luck with that. Your lederhosen must be really uncomfortable in the Mexican summer. Its no wonder you get so cranky.

You might practice sticking to the Truth. After a while, with practice, it might come to you naturally.

United Nations, World Remains on Unsustainable Track

From United Nations Environment Programme, June 6, 2012

World Remains on Unsustainable Track Despite Hundreds of Internationally Agreed Goals and Objectives

full list of goals and status of implementation

A United Nations report warns that the earth's environmental systems "are being pushed towards their biophysical limits" and that sudden, irreversible and potentially catastrophic changes are looming.

The UN's Environment Program says that climate change, the depletion of the ozone layer, plummeting fish stocks and the mass extinction of animals are among the most worrisome environmental threats.

Under current models, greenhouse gas emissions could double over the next 50 years

The extinction risk is increasing faster for corals than for any other group of living organisms, with the condition of coral reefs declining by 38 per cent since 1980. Rapid contraction is projected by 2050.

Though fish catches more than quadrupled from the early 1950s to the mid-1990s, they have stabilized or diminished since then.

More than 600 million people are expected to lack access to safe drinking water by 2015, while more than 2.5 billion people will lack access to basic sanitation.

The number of flood and drought disasters rose by 230 per cent and 38 per cent respectively between the 1980s and 2000s, while the number of people exposed to floods rose by 114 per cent.

The cost of coastal adaptation to climate change is estimated to reach between US $26 billion and US $89 billion by the 2040s, depending on the magnitude of sea-level rise.

That may be a good thing, or a bad thing. Towards the end of the article it says,

There are a lot of "if, "might" and "could" be in that article. More alarmist cr@p.

The following list of phrases and their definitions might help you understand the mysterious languages of science and medicine. These special phrases are also applicable to anyone working on a Ph.D. dissertation or academic paper anywhere.

"It has long been known" = I didn't look up the original reference.

"A definite trend is evident" = These data are practically meaningless.

"While it has not been possible to provide definite answers to the questions" = An unsuccessful experiment, but I still hope to get it published.

"Three of the samples were chosen for detailed study" = The other results didn't make any sense.

"Typical results are shown" = This is the prettiest graph.

"These results will be in a subsequent report" = I might get around to this sometime, if pushed/funded.

    "In my experience" = once.

"In case after case" = twice.

"In a series of cases" = thrice.

"It is believed that" = I think.

"It is generally believed that" = A couple of others think so, too.

"Correct within an order of magnitude" = Wrong.

"According to statistical analysis" = Rumor has it.

"A statistically oriented projection of the significance of these findings" = A wild guess.

"A careful analysis of obtainable data" = Three pages of notes were obliterated when I knocked over my coffee.

"It is clear that much additional work will be required before a complete understanding of this phenomenon occurs"= I don't get it.

"After additional study by my colleagues"= They don't get it either.

"Thanks are due to Joe Blotz for assistance with the experiment and to Cindy Adams for valuable discussions" = Mr. Blotz did the work and Ms. Adams explained to me what it meant.

"A highly significant area for exploratory study" = A totally useless topic selected by my committee.

"It is hoped that this study will stimulate further investigation in this field" = I quit.
