and then you have the small minded persons on the board that see racial issues in everything and me being from the land of racism (that's what the world branded SA) I really pity such people:rolleyes:

Just received a neg and here is the nameless message "racist crap-not appropriate here"
Funny these type of persons usually goes faceless and do not standup to the real world. Are you ashamed of your name or whom you are?? In the rare event of me Neg someones rep, I leave my name and never once was there any retaliation due to that.....
OTOH, also received a positive for the Pirates with the message "ROFLMAO" (name supplied).

BTW, does your statement speak for others or are you the lone ranger out there to save others from hilarious jokes.
Usually your type is so hyped up to see evil in everything that you forget the lighter side of things. In SA we are so used to colour, that most of the time us whites and blacks (OK not all, some small minds here as well, but most of the moderate ones) make fun of each others colour and have a laugh about it. Why, we lived it and came to terms that colour does exist and as long as you respect the other, you will receive the same in kind. Laughter is the core of life.

Real racism is when the minority disrespect others, especially the majority. Careful you are not branded as such forcing your views upon others.

Cheer up, get a life and start laughing, appreciate good jokes, try not to see evil, racism and Republicans in everything.
Heck, soon you may end up accusing a cup of white coffee next to the cup of black coffee being racist...:)

Ps; I have a very good idea who you may be if you read this, but Im bigger than you to go into a pissing contest with neg points. If it makes you feel better, hit me some more after enlightening you with this post:)

OK, Wynand.....do tell. How do you interpret the differences in the two flags?

I really have no idea how society in SA gets along, or how thier thought processes are, so I can't compare how we in the U.S. differ from SA.

I interpret the two flags as a racist joke. I recognize the humor, and can even chuckle at it. It would be especially ironic if the "joke" could be traced to either a Somali pirate or a Carib pirate. Does the thought process make me racist?...argueably....I suppose so.
I don't consider myself racist. I can enjoy jokes between "people of color" and whites about race. I have no problem sharing tables, water fountains, even sleeping quarters with other races. (I am a retired military man, so have been exposed to multiple races/nationalities.)
Where I do "draw the line" is a relationship that would procreate a child.
I feel that to do so is a (for lack of a more appropriate word) "contamination" of the heritages of both partners. Might that make me racist? I guess that depends on the thought processes of the "offended".

I'll leave it at that, and hopefully won't start anything. (Oh....BTW...I'm a white American male, with a German and English bloodline, just to give an ethnic background.)

I enjoyed the humor and I don't see anything racist in it at all. Somalis' have black skin and there is a big international crisis trying to deal with Somali pirates who are ranging over a large area of the indian ocean even to the Seychelles. I don't understand how anybody can interpret that as racist. The only thing that makes it black humor ( no pun intended) is the seriousness of the piracy.

Yes. You apparently use the word "contamination" because that's what you think and mean -- not because you can't find a "better" euphemism for what you mean. You're broadly assigning non-trivial attributes to people that have no association with what is seen.

People, being people, have always, still do and always will swim in the gene pools of other nations. The problem arises when lines are drawn to gain political power, as when a dictator calls his people "the master race" and tries to eliminate anyone whose hair color doesn't fit the prescribed formula for that race. Hitler did that and so does Mugabe. They are different colors but are alike under the skin. No one can say South Africa is a better place today and it will become worse as time goes by. Peoples' opinions are shaped by the wrongs they have suffered. That certain groups commit more of those wrongs per capita will color the outlook of their victims.

Jesus said,"Love your neighbor". He also said, "Love your enemy". That can be difficult when they are out to kill you.
