I couldn't find the picture of the exhaust deflector on page 42 but am very interested. As John mentioned, and many of us have found out, the exhaust tends to be pushed in your face on these things. On my Duropower unit I just took some coppper pipe and fittings and made an exhaust. Sure quieted the motor down and got the exhaust off of me. That 2 stroke smeel all day long during a hunt really was not enjoyable. The 4 stroke doesn't smell nearly as bad bu I would love to get this exhaust away from me and towards the back. Anything you know that can help is greatly appreciated.

The deflector worked great for the hot gases but did nothing much for the noise. It wasn't too bad. Here are a couple of shots I just took:

    Exhaust deflector

    Hi,

Thanks for the pictures on the exhaust deflector. I will need to do a little research and see how I can attach some type of exhaust deflector to my Honda GX35NTS3.

    Clutch Slippage

    Hi,

In reference to my comments in post reply 1270 on possible clutch slippage I have found the following:

I removed the clutch housing from Honda GX35NTS3 engine and did an inspection of the clutch shoes and clutch bell. I found no excessive dust i.e. clutch lining material. I also found the clutch bell to be in good shape i.e. no bluing from overheating. I then measured the O.D. of the clutch shoes and the measurement was 2.983. Chuck was nice enough to measure the O.D. of the clutch shoes on his brand new Honda GX35NTS3 and I found that my measurements are within tolerance. :)GOOD NEWS

    Another Power Plant

Here is a the basic text of my post 1189 of this thread.

This actually was my first endeavor.

Today I finally got around to making an adapter for the Young's T-10 Prop for this power plant. I used the same principle with the Sintered Bronze Bushings that I used on my Honda GX35NTS3 build.

Just thought I would share a few pictures with you guys. We will probably test this unit at the same time we test the HondaGX35NTS3 on my friends inflatable boat.

Thanks for the pictures - looks simple and functional. just the way I like things. I'm certain John will beat me to it but I will look at how to make a deflector for the Honda.

I called Honda one time and asked if there was a kit to deflect the exhaust asI was certain I saw that there was at one time somewhere. According to whoever it was I spoke with, there was no deflector. Bummer.

Think your airboat motor would work on a small lightweight portable ice shack? I know it wouldn't due to the increased friction/drag but it would sure be funny to put your motor on my flip over ice shack and "drive' it out onto the ice. Bet I would have a crowd around me once I got the spot I want to fish.

That aircanoe is pretty impressive. I'm just wondering what the bottom looked like after all of that contact with the hard ice! Hopefully, it wasn't too scuffed up. The concept definitely works. Any idea, anyone, what engine he was using? Neat! Bet that thing will move on out on water!

    Another Power Head

    Hey John,

This is a neat conversion. I have extra engines... just might try my hand at one of these as well. I think I'd want the shaft as short as possible, before it makes the bend. Please let us know how this one works out. You just may have a marketable part to sell there! Definitely the quickest way to the water!

Just guessing but I think it would take at least a 50cc to accomplish that thrust. He probably goes faster on ice because he is planing on a thin layer of water caused by the friction melting the ice. He gets less friction also by not having to displace water.

    Hi all...

Hello to everyone, firstly I would like to congratulate all of you on this thread who have tried and succeeded and to those who have tried and failed...I have read the whole thread (took me a while) and have purchased a 62cc 2stroke brush cutter that has a peak output of 4.1hp and 10,000rpm it has a dual weighted crank and double ringed piston and centrifugal clutch? It's has dual floating bearings quick connect driveshaft and the shaft type is Gold anodized Commercial alloy with 8mm 9 spline drive! The shaft diameter Is 26mm. I am planning to mount this on my 11ft intex 400 inflatable boat for fishing in rivers, creeks and lakes. If anyone is willing to put forward some ideas as to whether I should separate the shaft and if I would need to gear it down it would be greatly appreciated....the boat itself weighs in at a mere 20kgs but with me a mate and our gear I am estimating our total at around 250kgs without outboard setup...the boat is rated to 400kgs. I look forward to hearing some of your intellect on this project, regards ExperiMan.

    Welcome

Like Pistnbroke - welcome to the thread.

My boat, gear, and myself weigh in at around 150 - 160 kg. My motor, depending upon which one I use has hp ratings of between 1.2 - 1.8 hp and it pushes this set up 6.2 mph.

Would love to see a pic of this motor and how much did it cost - gold plated?

    Almost complete..

Shaft is shortened, motor runs great!! Heaps of grunt and am waiting on a T10 and a T15 prop so trial and error I will be trying both out to see results. Building exhaust tomorrow to run under water..and also fabricating motor mount. Will post pics tomorrow
