These lablels are as bad. The lables are a way to dismiss without having to do the hard work of debating detailed research. They label it one way or the other to dismiss it without understanding.

Do you believe the 82% of all of the Scientists in the poll you posted above?

If 99% of the Scientists were vote that human activity is THE PRIMARY contributory factor in changing mean global temperatures to a CATASTROPHIC DEGREE, would you then agree that WE should all reduce pollution?

Have you considered that Boston's comment may have been " high humor, or mind games, or a parable of how much could be made from a little, or just pure contrarianism" (to paraphrase your words).

I guess you consider using comments like that your singular domain.

    Thankyou.
I have offered several times to discuss what mitigating projects would be acceptable and so feasible to all sides.
    Issuing silence was deafening!
As soon as I mention anything controversial, the pack attacks! :D

I suspect since alarmists think AGW CO2 is certain human extinction, they'll justify ANY tactic. :)

First, you take my statement you truncated when quoting, out of context. I said those who accused me, that was what I did, was true to "some extent". Like a blindman thinking an elephant's leg is like a tree. To some extent true, but not REALITY.
    Sarcasm has a point, usually!
Maybe I should 'dumb down' my comments to "TV audience" level? Tv aims at adults with a 11 years old mentality.

You won't find me making un-american statements anywhere, anytime, EVER!
Those who disagree with me, have the right to speech, and I have a right to not listen. As Troy said.
They have the right to vote. I've never suggested they shouldn't.
They have a right to their opinions, but not to their own facts.
    :)

Preaching 'Panic' that causes damage or injury is illegal. It's illegal in airports and theatres. But not in public, though some profiteering from panic they generated, may discover in the future they ARE held responsible.
My major concern, is people are steadily losing faith in scientists and their various doom predictions. Too much crying 'Wolf" destroys their credibility!
What happens in the future IF a REAL emergency arises, and NOBODY pays attention?

Of the above mentioned scientists, how many were actively researching the earth sciences relating to climate change? - - I dimly recall some concern as to the voracity of a scientific view of those outside the climate change discourse...

Holding a doctorate or masters degree does not make one an expert, authority except in the narrow discipline of their academic charter. . . . even then, - academic studies that comprise book review (a doctorate in religious studies or psychology for example) may be fine in that narrow discipline, but of what use beyond that?

and - - - WE SHOULD ALL REDUCE our prolific discharge into the environment of POLLUTANTS...

I am no expert, yet I have in my possession a Masters degree and a doctorate from USA (I bought them for personal amusement), but they are on topics that I have a very good understanding... masalai is also a farmer...

    Congratulations Dr Masalai
My sincere respect for both your academic achievement and your career as a farmer.
I agree we can each do more to conserve and protect our enviroment. I have and do live carefully.
I have on occasion, actually turned my ship around to recapture garbage flung into the sea, by ignorant novice seamen.
The lost time and fuel expended were NOT minor expenses.
    I considered it important.
The manuever was logged in the 'Official' log and in my faxed daily report to my office.
    Management concurred it was important.

Climatology is a relatively NEW and imature science. The 'specialists' in climatology, don't have a monopoly on TRUTH or any 'DESERVED' special credibility in world politics.
Unless you consider them 'High Priests' as some seem to! :D

And as a Horticulturist or Agriculturist or Botanist, where ever your degrees specialize, YOU know CO2 isn't a pollutant! :)

Yah that whole survey was a fraud Mas. Some of the people who's names were on it were even dead. Hardly one was an actual climate scientists and most that were called scientists and signed had nothing more than a high school diploma with an emphasis on biology, if you know what I mean.

That study has been thoroughly discredited by a number of different organizations. The number of links to specific ones are simply to numerous to mention but this single link does have a lot of them

The tittle of the article is most telling

What if the Oregon Petition names were real ?

    http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...eaOnqMMA3tcsxok4w&sig2=r4_1yc_w-kNXLo9CyKni6g

Its the first link on the page

In a nut shell its actually a series of fraudulent surveys all perpetrated by the same group who are on the dole from the oil and gas industry. Oh and they're flaming christians as well, which should pretty well describe what levels of deceit there willing to stoop to.

I did answer, but you want a 'simple' answer.

    No
Taking Boston's comments in context, he really feels this way.
    and
    I don't MAKE comments like Boston's.
    But No.
I don't reserve free speech to myself.

If you need it more simple, I'll use crayons. :D

    Tilting at STRAWMEN!

    You CONSISTENTLY miss the point!

I WAS DISCREDITING THE SURVEY AND ALL LIKE IT!

Unless a survey questions "Who believes in CATASTROPHIC WARMING?", the survey is WORTHLESS!

What does it matter if the world is gently and beneficially warming or not?
Discussing THIS kind or degree of warming is as important as remarking "Nice day, isn't it!"

Alarmists claim there is a consensus of scientists who believe as they do, in 'CATASTROPHIC WARMING'!

I contend the question has never been ASKED!

    Hi Yobarnacle & Hi Boston,
Every so often I jump over to see what you two find to talk about, and being bored, thought to interject by posting... Pity there are so many lies and agendas to distort significant needs - BUGGER what the cause but there is a definite and urgent need to clean up this planet by reducing our wanton pollution...

I sometimes wonder how many homes have faeces and litter scattered around festering and decaying therein? - - - Oh yes the old idea of "Throw it over the fence and on to the street.", persists... We are still as uncivilised and ignorant as 2000 odd years ago...

Some posters still seem to confuse "climate change" with "weather"... The weather interests me as I like to make passages when it is benign, but climate change is also of concern as normal annual systems tend to change and make seasonal predictions difficult... The climate had an 11 year cycle and could be identified by the SOI (Southern Oscilator Index) to give an idea on the likelihood of drought years or normal to better than normal precipitation...

Typical winter weather in Brisbane used to be westerlies bringing fronts up from the SW to moderate the cold mornings (wind travelling across Australia to chill down on the dry times) and 2 or 3 days of showers, rain and occasional storm buried in the passing fronts, but winds mostly less than 25 knots out to sea... - -

In summer we got SE sea breezes scattered showers and 2 to 5 cyclones crossing the Queensland coast or coming fairly close to ensure adequate summer rains...

NOT THE CASE NOW... Climate is changing, including the Coral Sea in summer is regularly above 32deg Celsius... What the changes will mean when and as things adjust to these new patterns in local weather systems is anybodies guess...

As I posted, I wasn't certain (meaning didn't have basis to believe) about the illuminati plot.
My post was a response to Troy's suggesting a 'conspiracy' of ALL scientists was impossibly large, improbable and unbelievable!
I tried to explain conspiracy was normally a FEW manipulating MANY!
The whole 'illuminati' conspiracy theory was only barely mentioned by me. There are SERIES of BOOKS written about nefarious manipulations by the 'elite' on ALL historical events of past 400 years.
I did NOT present a case to believe in it. Just to suggest it was a 'possible' explanation!
As usual, my comments were misconstrued and misinterpreted.
It's why I let it drop and didn't respond to Troy's ultimate refutations.
My original point had been lost and forgotten in the rhetoric.
