Have a few sections of soft fiberglass in the deck to floatation tank junction, about 6-8" in length, where water got behind the gelcoat and was never repaired. The soggy sections are maybe 1-2" in width. Can these sections be dried and relaminated (thinking epoxy and biaxial cloth) or do I need to grind until I get to clean glass and then patch ? It's a 44 y/o O'day, the laminate appears to be rather thin, at most (not counting gelcoat) about 3/16".

If the laminate is thin, you need more anyway. You can dry it out, but will it be clean enough for a good bond? Probably not, so just grind back to good, solid laminate and add the fabric it needs.

Pretty much took your advice, PAR. Better safe than sorry and I only want to do this once. I also have added substantially more material than what came out, as another Ospray owner had same issue with his hull so clearly it needs more strengthening.
