make of my boat help

hi to all
just joined the site,wondering if anyone could help confirm the make of my speedboat and give me some idea to what year it would have been built, i brought the boat off ebay from a guy that was restoring it, the boat was advertised has a shakespear and i am pritty sure he is right but i carnt find any info on the net that matches my boat. hope someone can shed some light.

Can you find a Hull Identification Number? - should be on the transom some place - part of the HIN is a manufactures code as well as year and serial number - sorry can't remember when HIN's became mandatory but it has been for many years - that would help identify your boat.

 

The HIN on that boat should be in the upper right hand corner of the transom, assuming it's built after the fall of 1973 in the USA. The styling of the boat suggests it could be older then this, so you could be out of luck. If it does have a HIN, the first 3 digits are the manufacture's prefix code and can be looked up on the USCG web site.

If no HIN, you're crap out of luck most of the time, unless there are some clues, which often times there are. Places around the hull may have a number stamped into them, logos, etc. There's no easy way, but to crawl around and look for them. A title search may also yield some luck.

I think its a Simms super V, but its not standard , the interior is not right.

The transom was distinctive but I cant see it. A friend had one in Blackpool 40 years ago with a 75 merc.

I think they trailer is DIY but well done, but not very strong. When you get an engine on that you might need to move the axle back a bit if its not welded. The frame is bending a bit already.

All shakespeare boats had names of archery such as a Fletcher. Its a small boat for a shakepeare,---but it was 40 years ago
