new model 33 ft

    Hi all.

    This is my first message, and I hope to be in your forum to a good start.

    I am a small (very small) sports boat manufacturer in Spain. Our models are more focused on the fisherman. This is a time of great crisis and that greatly affects our sales. But we see the future with optimism and I'm already thinking about the next model we want to do. This model Cruiser want it to be more, as I believe that the future of our industry to go that route. In my head, and this basic distribution, deck and interior. The hull length that we will do is 8 meters and an overall length of nearly 9 meters. (In Spain the tip of the bow and swim platform does not count as boat length) The sleeve is 3 meters. This is influenced mainly by the ports and berths. We want to be outboard propulsion.

    And now comes my office and request assistance.

    I want our new model, and present a modern and attractive cover, present an innovative hull that is stable both in standing and have a good sail in rough seas. That can serve similar hull of inspiration? We must make a complex and very futuristic hull? Or is it better to make a more conservative and classic hull? That model could be our inspiration?

    Buyers are very fashion conscious. Go modern.

    Fuel is expensive. Go moderate power, moderate speed.

    Highly detail the sun protection.

    The huge disadvantage of an outboard power boat in the Mediterranean is the stern and overhanging outboard motor. As you know boats are tied up stern too the dock. Almost impossible to board from the stern of a boat with an outboard sticking off its stern. I suggest moving the outboard..... Forward .....so the the stern of the boat can be closer to the dock and make boarding and swimming easy. With 9 meters you should be able to get the cockpit sole high enough to build a WALLY tender type open transom, with motor forward. Single engine , with a detailed installation for a standby 9 hp auxiliary outboard, that stores inside the boat, then PLUGS into a well for use like the HENDERSON 30

    although you see mounted the maximum power (2 x 250) now have to think about riding tight and economic power, this boat with 2 x 115 and got 35 knots half load, it would be a good starting point.

    for youre outboard configuration, you could try building the outboard enige in the frame, with a raised deckaft. There you can put the stern side mooring equipment. About the look of the boat, I like the old skool boats, but modern is ok, try not to overdo it, because it can scare of customers.

    just a question, why do you want the ship to behave good in rough sea?
    It is possible, but if you want good rough sea handeling, you give up a speedy hull form.

    It's nice to hear optimistic news from spain, I really hope the design will succeed!

    Here is where the problem, find a balance that meets a fast hull that does not need much power, that is stable and has a good behavior with any sea.

    The cover design is not a problem, it will be very modern scare potential customers. But a modern and attractive line if you have.

    We will decide on a more normal hull design, but classic. I do not see much enthusiasm for new ideas (which seems not so)

    We had thought that commercially, it could come with a helmet introduce innovative or modern air.

    We'll leave it be, and focus on presenting the cover, which will have a revolutionary distribution for a boat of this size cruiser.

    Now we must decide the degree of V in the hull, if anyone wants to contribute ideas, are all welcome.

    Angle of deadrise, a quick assesment:

    0 degree deadrise, means fast planing hull, but no seakeeping capability,
    30 degree deadrise, this will ride the waves nicely, but you wont get to the speed using a light engine.
