    pistnbroke I try

I dont quite understand why my previous reply is not here...I can tell you anything you need to know about the 200 tdi ..If you have a heat exchanger then basically you have 4 pipes ...one set replaces the radiator and you fit the normal LR bits inc the expansion tank and pressure cap ..you pump raw water through the other two.. If you search on Google you will find the BMW unit has a water intake to feed a raw water pump ..this water cools the leg I am told .. I think you will find the raw water pump is driven by the engine and not in the leg. It is usual to cool the exhaust with the raw water to quietnen the engine exhaust noise and to enable flexible rubber pipe to be used.
the BMW unit is prone to rattle it seems

it is the inlet for the engine BUT someone could use through hull and ignore the drive ( after blocking the pipe in the transom)
I couldnt say whether you wil need to let the water still run through the drive to cool it..depend on the installation. If it was a Merc alpha one you definately need to let the water go through the drive.
I was a BMW dealer from start to finish of them so I can help with answers I hope.

hi mate the water inlet allows water to be transfered from the leg to the raw water pump on the engine, if you look at top right hand corner of the transom from inside the boat there will be a plumming like fitting round about 30mm in diameter if it is capped off then your engine is probably using a through hull water inlet, what actually seems to be the problem you are having?
