    Thanks

Thanks for the info, I may go back with a new 350, is this what your boat was running? if so, what kind of performance #'s were you getting cruise rpm and fuel burn, and top end speed and fuel burn?
Thanks again for any info you can provide.

    Zack,
My last gas engine was a Mercruiser 351 Ford Windsor. My cruise rpm was 3,100 and my WOT was 4,200. Fuel burn at cruise was 12-14 gallons an hour depending on conditions. At 3,100 rpm this was right at pre-4-barrel. My top end speed was around 28kts if the tide was right. You know how heavy these boats are.

    Carteret,

Thanks for the input, I was thinking I could expect app 8 gal/hr at 3100 and maybe 14 gal/hr at 4400, but you say I should expect 12-14 at cruise? Ouch! Do you know the weight of your boat when you had the 351, and the prop pitch and diameter, and how many gallons of fuel you were carrying? Sorry to be such a bother, but I am trying to dial this thing in. Thanks again for any info you can provide!

    Zack,
My estimate of the Allmand's weight with the smallblock was a little over 6,000 lbs. The prop was a 13d x 13p with a 1" bore. I was carrying 60 gallons of fuel. Your questions are not a bother. Plan your work and then work your plan.

    Carteret,

I have been doing some investigation on the Crusader I am pulling and found that it is opposite (Right Hand) rotation, was your 351 RH or (standard LH) rotation? I have been told that the existing prop is a 13" Dia 8" pitch. Was your 13X13 the factory Dia?Pitch, or did you modify it for operational reasons? If your engine was LH I think I will go back the same way, I can't think of any performance/design reasons this boat had a RH engine, but I know I can obtain a LH for less money. Thanks again for your help.

    Zack,
My Mercrusier was Left hand rotation. I modified the wheel to get maximum performance. If you replace with a left hand rotation engine you can find good deals for props on E-bay. LH rotation is the best setup because of the availability of parts.

    26 Allmand info request

    Hello Zack,

I am starting to bring back a 26 allmond SP to life.

The boat has no prop and is powered by a 350 chevy.

I was wondering if you remembered the prop size on yours?

Also what type performance were you getting speed/gals per hour?

    Any info would be apreciated.

Also what did you end up repowering with?

    Thanks,
    Jim
