I've owned a number of dogs in my life. Wonderfull friends. Display great personality, love, loyalty, shame when they know they were caught misbehaving. They dream, they suffer, they experience joy, happiness, sadness, heartbreak, loneliness. They miss you when you're away. Rejoice at your return. They're determined and resourcefull. Take them 50 miles away, dump them out, many will find their way home.
    Do they have a soul?
I don't know but I think not. A mans soul is the god like part of man. Obviously our bodies were'nt made in the image of a spirit.

Will dogs go to heaven? Hey, I'd love to see my pet friends again.

But what's sadder? To think only men will be promoted higher than the angels?
or to think that when we are dead, just like the dog Rover, we'll be dead all over!

And of course, this is the only thread on boatdesign.net that has ever meandered away from the original subject....:D

The fact is that a thread is basically a conversation, and conversations wander around. But they generally get back to the original subject before they're done.

Relax. No one intends to permanently hijack the thread and turn it into one on religion; the discussion of souls between me and Yobarnacle is just a sidebar:).

No no no- this thread it the jaundiced view of American prospects thread.

    The housing thread is here:

    http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/op...american-buy-cheap-house-3rd-world-41036.html

Or am I reading too much into the OP's thread starter:

"How can a cheap American buy a WHITE HOUSE in the 1st. World ?
Easy, Wall Street can arrange it every time."

Since the esteemed Mr Efficiency has left the thread to develop on its own volition, my take is that no censure is needed?

I will commit the next trespass.

    Dogs with souls?
The longer I live the more I believe that all creatures have a soul and in fact a unique personality in each and every one.
Hard to see in ants I'd admit but there non the less.

"occam's razor" and the existence of god in the same thought?

Silver Raven--I have gone back over the thread and no question you are a lurker on this thread thus in reality it has not really gone off course as it pertains to your input being ignored by other topics being brought on line. In several of my post I have gone into a great ramble on how I obtained a white house in the 1st. world hoping someone would also relate their approaches. Those as well as 75% of the other posts were on topic and opportunity for you to give input which we encourage and need to keep a forum thread moving and alive. In my limited time on forum and my non ending reading of past threads I can't recall any that has not gone off and on topic thru out it's life. It's the nature of the beast and most non technical non boat threads(this one being an example) often drift into the big three no no's --religion-politics and sex --not unlike real life conversations. If I want input and reply on the topic of a thread that has drifted off course I basically do the same as you have done but with a little more diplomatic approach I.E. Post input on the off thread topic and then as a second paragraph of your post coax the thread back on stream by relating your second paragraph to the OP's subject OR Simply start you post by the words "Gettin back on topic" ----.
If you are still lurking the thread you will see that it has gone off thread again on the last two postings --But by doing so it has given opportunity for one or more people obtaining employment, in doing so it just might give them the income opportunity to purchase that "White house in the 1st. world" . I.E. Postings that relate to and put the thread back on track again :) and a welcomed opportunity for you to post .--???
