It sounds like as long as the system can triangulate the adhesive targets the scanning process is very easy and quick.

I've seen the consumer software which is supposed to allow you to take a few digital photos and select points yourself and then produce a 3d model (of course not for anything curved though, so...)and given the lack of accuracy and time I always thought it would be less frustrating and more rewarding just to model from scratch. Similar idea taken to the next level here where it sounds like it's really useful with the combination of scanning and triangulating the targets.

I wonder how good the software is to then take the very intricate scan surface and produce a surface model - can all that data be accurately distilled into a "workable" cad model?
