    Hi,

How are things proceeding? I have a 4-day holiday (and will be wide awake since I'm unlikely to gorge myself on any turkey) and would enjoy given some time to CAFE.

    Cheers!

    I'm curious:

Is the testing strictly internal, or a does it include all or only SOME of your paying/supported customers? Is there room for non-supported users to trial the pre-released code in case there is something worth reporting amiss?

I ask only because the currently-downloadable version is dated to ~ March, and some of us have provided what you thanked us for and described as valuable/good comments/suggestions. I also wonder about our (the non-paying users) mindsets and expectations compared to those of your paying/supported users.

    Cheers/Regards

    Hi,

testing is done through the network of partner companies on PRO version. To qualify, you need to exist as a legal entity and sign the liability contract which deals with the license misuse.
The new free version is the same program as PRO, but with some disabled options. Now, we are struggling with security issues of free version and that why it is late.

    Happy New Year :)

Good luck with resolving the security issues.

Since I use a non-networked, virtualized win7, would the security issue be of importance?

    Cheers!

If you are good in programming, you can crack the protection of the free license and gain access to PRO version, so the platform is not important.

Test version of CAFE is PRO without any protection and therefore we require contract that imposes the liability to the tester not to violate the rules.

I'm not sure if I answered your question?

    Oh, thanks!

I understand now. I assumed it was security of the end-user platform.

Yep, it's hard to keep certain end users from violating the Beta Release/pre-release contracts. I understand that some companies (microsoft, autodesk, IBM, etc./big ones or those that have enough money to keep lawyers and trackers/hunters on staff) serialize each instance of a download, and tie it to the user's platform so that certain output of info will embed the identity of the person or the machine divulging information prematurely or from restricted versions of software.

Pleased to announce that a new CAFE free version is available for download at www.bvbcafe.com. The new free version has the time limit of 30 days, but there is no limit on how many times you can download it again and again. Before installation, remove the previous version! Manual is also updated.

    Regs to all.
