    Got it, many thanks.
I will have a wee play with it when I get a chance.

PD racer's not really my thing Im afraid. I want a wee boat to look like a boat! I felt bad enough having to make a flattie!!

    Thanks all

I feel I have to defend the honor of my favorite boat!

The look of a PD is really up to you, from a $80 boat to $1000

There are lots of good free (or nearly free being in a book) boat plans, don't get too caught up, just start building what you like!

Didnt mean any insults with my last statement there Collin. They wee ones look like theyre having loads of fun in that great wee boat! Nice daggerboard by the way!
These simple boats have given lots more folk a cheap start in boating that they wouldnt have thought possible prior to the designs introduction. I actually DID consider making one for myself many years ago before I began making traditional clinker boats.
For my lad though, a clinker boat at his age is just plain silly. Maybe when he's older.

I have definately decided to make Steve's Roamer 10ft flattie design. I made a card model and it all worked out lovely with nice lines. (well as nice as a big old chine of its size can be!) It will look great in the water, and will be VERY stable.

The wood still isnt here yet. I hope I can get it sooner rather than later.

    Here is the result.

Here is Steve's Roamer 10 design. Should be ready for Xmas morning...
I increased the freeboard by 90mm and built her good and tough to take a beating in Scotland's loch's

I have loads of photos of the build, and will document on a thread here when I get a chance. Im still building at the moment so a bit busy to post it all yet!;)

My boy should be well delighted, I hope. Fingers crossed!

    Thanks all

Just in case anybody follows the same path I did and wants this software, which I could not find in the software section, here's where I eventually found it: http://www.epoxy-resins.co.uk/Carene2013/carene.htm (appears to be the copyright owner, but is still freeware).
