My boat was designed by William Atkin in 1936 as a knock about with a jib headed main. A friend of mine has the same hull but rigged as a gaff rigged cutter w/bowsprit, it looks pretty but lacks in performance when going to windward (60 degrees off the wind compared to 35 or better with my rig) though he has done alot of ocean cruisning, just takes awhile to get to windward.
The original knock about rig was poorly balanced so boom was shortened and head stay made detachable so could be shipped to flt a large jib off of the topstay and/or relocated as stem headed cutter.
With the higher peak and topsail on your plan you should be able to point alot better than my "semi-sistership"
