The joys of building boats and seeing other peoples handi work !!

Yes i did notice those bubbles and little pockets of air in the resin and glass this also is not uncommon!
When the guy guns the glass they usually run a extra couple of passes with a gun to give a little bit of thickeness so when the woven roving goes into the strake it will sit better ho ho . 99% of the time the roller they would have used is the wrong size and theres glass and resin and air trapped there and never gets rolled out properly .all done for speed . no care and little attention to detail .
In recent years i carry my camera with me a good part of the time no matter where i am working or what im doing . Have hundreds of pictures for all occassions and each week i collect even more . While working in Korea i keep a photographic diary so to speak of things and happeings each day for all the time i was there . after they realised what i was doing things really improved all round . Making people aware and making them responsable and you cant argue with a picture of what they had been doing !!.
On the computer i can enhance and change light and colours etc to make things change so they are clearer and easyer to see .:D

    Hi
I started with the painting process, but my staff as I told you are Auto painters, they are very good with cars but as told you earlier ZERO marine experience.
I do not want to do poor and wrong paint job, I want to do a professional marine gelcoat finishing.
My idea is to make the surface fair and smooth, then apply (talc+resin) as putty compound and filler, then sand it then spray gelcoat.
    Is it correct way?
If so then my question, how to spray/apply gelcoat to get a marine quality finishing that looks professional and last long as new boat.
waiting for reply with details of tools/ material needed.

SAND AND APPLY YOUR STANDARD AUTOMOTIVE FILLERS FROM THE TIN WITH A HARDENER !! THEY ARE MADE FROM POLYESTER RESINS ANYWAY AND ITS WHAT IVE ALWAYS USED FOR YEARS . LONG BOARD IT FLAT AND USE A GOOD 2 PART POLY URETHANE TOP COAT TO FINISH IT WITH . jUST TREAT IT LIKE A CAR TO FINISH !
ALWAYS USE 2 PART PAINTS WHERE EVER POSSIBLE BECAUSE THEY ARE HARDER WEARING AND BETTER UV PROTECTED . :D:p

I will do the painting later, tomorrow we will do the foam filling inside the boat and correct the fuel tank partitions , this way we give more time for the fiber glass on the stracke outside under the hull to fully dry.

People on this site spend hours helping sometimes and we all follow and most time never see or hear the end results .
I like to just keep intouch . I am a kiwi living in china !! so hands across the water so to speak . Good luck ! :D
