had a watertight badtub door after thought and posted the story and made renders to the design contest anyway
having it discussed and beeing a real wild idea the chances are it only sees daylight after the contest
when i repost it here as i think its an interesting idea, the pic i've taken out leaves a trail from here to tokio tho

When is aalto visionfutureboating going to announce winners?

I believe Yipster said he was entering his PWC cycle.

If that doesn't win a prize, I'd like to see what does, being as they are asking for "radically new concepts".

    https://blogs.aalto.fi/visionfutureboating/call-for-entries/

I see deadline for submissions, but no date for announcing winners.

    SkiBike

    I already built this idea!
still got to work out the bugs though .....
    it doesn't float well anymore,
but it did win the non float category in the Christmas Street Parade!
though it couldn't enter the Lighted Boat Parade because of a few holes in my design ...... go figure!

from real world experience I can tell you that it's a bit sluggish in the turns and you can't turn it tooo tight, but in the parade it did nothing but turns. But if you're pulling a (inline) skater as a water skier in a street parade don't take a turn too fast or too tight and whip her off into the weeds! OOPS! Maybe I should have been carrying a spotter along with me? Next time!

This skibike was only meant for the Christmas parade a few years back. I did have ideas similar to yours using a motorcycle that could used the same way as you're thinking but it got jammed to the back burner. Most of what's on this thread I've seen, cool stuff and I sure hope something comes of it. They say to "think outside the box". Why start with one at all?!

SPI, just take a few cans of foam and make that thing float and

    you might have it!

Maybe a little fiberglassing to keep water from blasting out the foam.

I envisioned at least two versions of Yipsters non-retracting wheeled Combo....

a high powered planning, and low powered non-planning.

If you could just get that thing to float, you would have at least a non-planning version.

hi, dont think a low power non planning wil be a sensation but it sure looks like an off-road with some floads
and i guess with some type of frontwheel drive to get up and out of the water will be ahead of my showroom fantasies

only mailed "visions of future boating" a general discription with links to check for key details
all together probably broke the 200 words limit too, and some action shots how my version might perform

allthough my fantasy be expensive, think it might fly, but now thinking back of my presentation it might be out of the rules twice
checked and see 14-1-2011 we know if we made a free pizza but if not would indeed be interesting to see what did

You might like to also add wings to this design and really make it get everywhere!

I'd think a small fairing and windshield might come in handy? and windshield wipers? That would be a hoot to terrorize the neighborhood with! I already got a trip planned for this machine!

It is interesting to see what was invented more than hundred years ago.

sorry guy's, no free pizza's, here the results from the visions of future boating competition https://blogs.aalto.fi/visionfutureboating/
still have to find the teksts by the winning designs but no pwc bike combo (still i think our idea is good tho)
was also thinking of perhaps a blade/keel, will resize pics and we can talk again
hmm, now lets see what won, later!
