New Boat Porpoising

THIS IS AMAZING. so if you shift weight to one side the boat goes down on that side and if you shift it back to the other side it comes up again.

 

Wheely bin your concerns are similar to--lets see The car swerves from left to right when I turn the steering wheel. The engine stops when I turn the key. If I let the air out it goes flat at the bottom. The door opens when pull the handle. etc etc

Now im not rying to be rude but..... Put all you passenges in a seat and tell them to stay there, make sure ALL wear a safetyjacket, make sure all can swim.

If you flip it over from your terrible driving crossing wakes it will be a frighening experience.

It is a small boat with 90 HP it can kill. People do not get up and run around.

Tunnels l throught that this was a boat hull forum, l did realize that this was a site to redicual persons that were seeking information on how to solve boating issues, l don't profect to knowing everything, Thats why l am asking.
Not sure where l said l was over taking another boat ? we were going in opposite direction

The boat in question is a Haines 493 F it is a cubby cabin, very similar to the old one. A Haines (Traveller 157), Not sure how you fall out of a cubby cabin if you are within the inside the cabin area it self, ?
lets back it up, at the start l did, 7 years as a Navel Reserve, (Tasmania), Worked in Bass strait, it's between Tasmania and Victoria, working on 70 ft scallop boat owned by Allied fishery's, operating out of Launceston (Working area east of Flinders Island, Sub area (Babel island -cat island area) look it up, yes some of my boating experience is some what limited to the small boats under (4 mtr) on inland rivers, undertaking aquatic weed control,for 3 years.
Have inland coxswain ticket
This vessel is over 4.8 mtrs in length. It's 5.3 mtrs in length.
Under the boating act of Victoria, you must wear a life jacket, On all vessels under 4.8 mtrs.
As for drinking and driving, (what sort of idiot question is that)
The set up of the tanks, l am assuming that you referring to the fuel tank, not sure how you move some thing, that is built into the hull of the boat. yes this is my first fibreglass vessel.

Big boats are unrelated in all ways to small boats as i am well schooled with most . I prefer small boats and my own boat is a 1975 semi cabin its just over 4 .6 meters but has a motor MUCH bigger than what it should have ! I love speed and going fast , i will not let anyone else drive my boat even friend that have boats of there own ! Its fast i have spent hours getting to know what it will do and how to handle it in just about any situation . It jump out of the water like a jet ski turns on a dime and goes like stink .
I have been building ,sailing and driving boats most of my life since 1972 am still making boats and our Smallest is a 28 feet power boat with 320 hp and the larges 48 foot with twin 435 ips volvos .
I agree with Frosty you come across and not having much small boating exsperiance there nothing wrong with that we all learn and should never stop learning . You need seat time !! you need to fill up the tank under the floor and just go and spend hours in all kinds of situations to get to know your boat !! No two Boats are the same . small boats are a personal thing and you have to know and understand how it works and what it likes and dosent like . Broaching yes you can throw a person out of a semi cabin boat
or any boat for that matter !.

Allow me to say thank you, To all that have contribute, l have learnt a great deal from this, your input it has helped me ask the approbate questions, this has lead to me getting a replacement boat.

And yes l have come out ahead.

Now l need to get on the water and enjoy.

Good boy ! getting the feel of your boat only comes with exsperiance and lots a seat time .

 

wheelybin, don't forget boat engine have deadly CO in exhaust at

far higher rates than autos, and can kill people sitting on swim platforms in certain conditions.

Very good point, l remember one time, l was working off the Babel's, when the gas line to the fridge broke and leaked some of the gas into the engine room not knowing that this is how you make Mustard gas not good for the lungs l can assure you, you cough your guts out (The morel behind this stories is just because you cannot see it, It's not their. It pays to be safe.
