I'm trying to figure out a way to ad a kick up rudder to my 33 foot Buccaneer. I'm wondering if anyone has plans for a Kurt Hughes style kick up rudder system. As well as any advice of how to mount it into the back end of a Buccaneer.

    Thanks,

    Wolfy

    Kurt Hughes has them:

He sells plans very cheap, so you could probably pick up the rudder plan for a comparable size boat for a couple hundred dollars.

Ive spoken to Tim Clissold in the past about kick up rudders his solution was a transom hung cassette rudder with a resettable break out block for impacts you can contact him through his website www.tcdesign.co.nz I found his pricing to be very reasonable.

I have looked at the Kurt Hughs design for my boat it is an interesting design. A kick up that is cassette based and not transom hung. I can not give the plans away as I am bound by my contract but it would be worth your time to contact him.
In my design a small racing tri the the rudders are in the Ama's.

I should also add that I'm building a Kurt Hughes.

Take it from us customers of Kurt - he will sell you the plans for the kickup rudders at a nice, fair price.

That is a very small part of the plan. I'm sure he would be happy to send it to you for a great deal.

I'd have no problems recommending Kurt's plans either he is honest and easy to deal with I'm building his formula 40 singlehanded trimaran as my next project, plans are on the way!
