Full Pelt had more carbon than most. With a minimum class weight there was less incentive to go that route.

Unclear exactly why the 40's and 28's died out--everything has a half-life.

Generally the tris predominated with their greater righting moment. the best of the boats are quite robust, some demountable.

I'm privleged to own one of each. Rosebud has been lengthened from to 28 to 33 feet and Biscuits Cantreau 2 now Running with Scissors is undergoing a full refit. See facebook.com/Carbonclub for details.

Very impressive rebuild and alterations, congratulations, I realize the amount of work and dedication that is involved.. The original Biscuits Cantreau, with the X beam platform, as you probably know, is with the Golden Oldies in France, you have BC2 and BC3 is in New Zealand. Marvelous that these classic racers are being restored.

 

I sailed BC 1 as Deb Druan's Sea Biscuits here in MA, then to England as ProVu and then as you say to France. Our BC2 was in Boston, then Texas, then Seattle, then Thailand, then Ohio, then here. I believe BC 3 is actually in Scandanavia. I think it is BC4 that went from the Swiss Lakes to Aukland. I think this forum helped make that sale. She was never raced as the circuit ended too soon. Someone planned to do the TransAt but she went off mooring in a storm and was damaged. She has full Lake Monster rig-- 80' mast and 15' sprit. We are quite content with our new 67' carbon wing now in the works.

Ah, BC4 in Auckland, thanks Ted. BC2, or maybe it's BC3, is the one with the peculiar but attractive, star shaped stern/rudder connections and the softer bilges. Always thought it was a beautiful boat.
