This TSP is smaller then a car and is designed to be kept in your garage or carport, 4 pax can easily get from their house to the pod and fully strapped in under 2 min and your right like with any evacuation plan only a fool would not practice his escape.
The TSP has been designed to have streamlined profile to prevent it from being pined down and stuck in the mud and the fact it is round and will displace over 2 tone also makes it hard to be pined down. In the event of the TSP getting pined down there is a second emergency exit hatch. Sadly many of the 24,000 people that lost their lives in Japan did so with the running to higher ground theory in mind.
Yes there is always a worst case scenario and if most people were staring down a 3m wall of water and half their town then you can be rest assured that they will much prefer to take their chance in a TSP then try to out run it. If we can save just 4 lives with one of these things then in my eyes i think that is a good thing and you cant put a price on that. Ps Thanks to everyone for your input.

The tsunami that hi the coast of Thailand and Malaysia where I live and I am at now was basically a surprise. No one knew it was coming , know one knew what a tsunami was including me.

I had approx 2 minutes --I saw it coming and I had no time to undo ropes and get my boat out I stood there watching like a rabbit in the head lights.

If I had this device it would have been usless.

Yes its our company that has designed and built this.
As i said Frosty 2 minuets is enough time for 4 people to get in and ready so plenty of time for you. As for the occurrence of Tsunamis here are some facts that may make you reconsider your last comment.
In the last 7 years our earth has suffered 7 Tsunamis that have killed 231,762.
This does not include the latest Japanese tsunami that would bump the death toll up to 254,389.

This style retails for $9,800 AUD but we are working on another one that should be a little cheaper.

I have expressed my doubts and each one of them remains. I'd rather see what comes to me and try to act consequently than voluntarily close myself into a coffin and wait for my last moment to come.

Besides, have you tried to calculate the probability of having one of these nearby in the moment when tsunami hits? If it's a night time (or a siesta time) and you're asleep, for example, it's useless. If you're on the beach, at the streets or in a shop, or anywhere else except close to your garage, for example, it's useless.

The fact is - you really have to be in the right place at the right time to have some possibility of getting into it and prepare yourself. The probability for this to happen is very small imho, and then it has to be multiplied by an even smaller probability to get hit by a tsunami. By doing all the math, you'll find out that the overall probability of ever having a chance to use this device is extremely small.

But, like I said, we don't think all the same way and I'm pretty sure somebody will eventually buy your device. Not many folks, imho - but that's just imho.

    Cheers

I think,-- ha ha you made a typo there --you said it weighs 495kilo--thats half a ton ha ha ha.

So when we all go to the beach we would need a half ton trailer with a survival pod in case there was a tsunami. I think men would come in white coats, wrestle me to the ground and inject a sedative into my neck before taking me away to a special place and never seen again. Thats of course if I could park.

You might want to learn that Thailand have tsunami warning sirens on exposed beaches. I think you get a minimum of 1/2an hour --so time for Mc donalds (I suggest a fillet O fish) and jump in the car and up the hill.

Having spent five years in earthquake research, I can think of a lot better ways to spend $10 000 towards surviving a tsunami.

All the best to you Matt.D but I think your product ridiculous accept for a very, very few acceptions.

I agree entirely but cant think of the exceptions.

Ive spent 'nearly' all my life not knowing what a tsunami was, when the marina staff came running round shouting tsunami I -like everyone else just stood dumbfounded. I climbed up the the bridge to look over the sea wall and saw a small wave breaking on the shallow part of the bay. I looked back and said "I can see it" how big they asked I said "oh about 4 feet"

If I had been asleep I might not have noticed the jostle of the boat as the tide went in and out very high to very low 4 times in about as many hours.

I don't expect another one in my life time due to the way an earth quake of this magnitude works, it will be some time before pressure is built up to need releasing again and that is if it is not released in little harmless little earth quake releases.

    I'lle bet you 10,000 dollars!

HaHaHa Frosty no typo! The Tsunami Survival Pod has been designed to keep in your garage, not take with you. Yes, I'm aware of the Tsunami sirens at the beach hence why you wouldn't take a Tsunami Survival Pod to the beach. Can I just confirm your time line Frosty as first you said you only had 2 mins but the warning sirens apparently give you a "minimum of half an hour".

Here is something you might want to learn, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency there was only about 4 minutes between the earthquake and the initial tsunami arrival at the observation buoy just off the coast of Kamaishi. Assuming the estimated arrival time is correct (i.e. it took another 5 minutes for the wave to travel from the buoy to the coast) that would give them somewhere between 9 to 24 minutes between the earthquake and the arrival of the tsunami depending on where they lived. Perhaps you know something the Meteorological guys don't? Even with this warning, sadly many people lost their lives while stuck in traffic jams trying to escape the impending danger.

Some more interesting points You may want to learn:
*In Japan on the 9th March, a 20 sec tremor from the same oceanic plate moving under the tectonic plate triggered a 60cm tsunami that pushed up knee deep into some coastal areas.
*Even this 7.2 magnitude quake wasn't enough to relieve your so called "pressure build up" to stop the magnitude 9 quake that levelled Japan just two days later.
*Today, New Zealand just had one of your "harmless little quakes" in the Kermadec Islands region 7.7 magnitude, a tsunami warning applies to New Zealand, the Kermadec Islands and Tonga!!!!

Can I just thank you again for all your feedback. My Web Designer has had a good chuckle and has asked me if he could add a page to our website on the naivety and how uninformed some of the public are and wants to use some of the statements from this thread. Also thanks to all the others that emailed me direct to inquire or commend us on our work. Thankfully for myself and my clients we have a team that has researched the real facts on these events and their facts push a lot more of a convincing argument. In the end, I hope we are wrong and everyone does have time to get to higher ground with or without a Fillet O fish.
