    Hi all,
We, 4 of us, have just purchased a Lancer 45 motorsailer. This was built in 1986, after the name and tooling were sold to Newport Offshore Yachts.
Has anyone any info on this boat, as the Lancer records seem to end in
1983, the year the company was sold?. It could be a Lancer 44, but was advertised as a 45.
    Many thanks,
    Neil.

Is it a center cockpit or pilothouse? As I mentioned, the two hulls are likely the same though my records treat them separately. I'm also fairly sure Lancer hulls were produced through 1985, possably '86.

The center cockpit is the 45 and the pilothouse version is the 44. The 45's where built up to 1985 according to my data base and it wouldn't surprise me to know a 1985 model was sold as an '86. The 44's were produced up to 1983 as far as I understand it, though again these records certainly could be incorrect.

It's very possible you have one of the few yachts built from the Lancer molds by Newport Offshore Yachts (which folded up in 1986), then again it's entirely possible that Endeavor Yachts popped one or two out of the molds as well. Contact Dick Valdez over at Columbia Yachts.

Many thanks for the info. It is a pilothouse with a big raised aft deck and 2 staterooms, one forward, the other aft, seperate toilets and showers for both. It is fitted with a mast that can be pivoted flat at deck level, but this may have been added later. The main sail has behind mast roller furling and a boom, which other models don't seem to have. There are 2x170hp Mercedes diesels downstairs which I understand are original.
The paperwork does indicate it is indeed a 1986 model. I will contact Dick at Columbia Yachts.
    Many thanks again,
    Neil.
