    update

Here's an update on my Nordson. The past months ive been working to level the templates. The original hull was twisted and hugged about 3 cm. This is all reduced to 2-4 mm. I've made a new transom of 2 layers of 18mm mahogany Bruynzeel multiplex which will be finished on the outside with 8mm Sipo mahogany. The new oak keel is in place and all leveled. Wright now i am working to fit the stem to the keel. The stem is made of 15 pieces of 6mm oak planks laminated together. I hope to start with rebuilding the hull this summer. Keep you posted.

    Best regards,

    Roderik

    Hi there,

I have been working in de last weeks again on my Nordson. The project has been slow in the winter and my priorities were elsewhere. This summer, the boat has got to see some water. I have now painted most of the inside, and am now fixing the front decking with a sandwich panel of glass and epoxy with veneer (mahogany; 2 mm) on top. It will be the traditional mahongany with light stripes (koto) between them. This evening, I want to start with that....! Pictures of your boat would be great? Could you maybe post some of them? The price...? I guess that depends on the state of the boat. I paid 100,- euros for mine...;-)

    Ciao, Eric

    Nordson Nereid ready

Hi Everyone who is interested in Nordson speedboats,

I have finalised my project on the 1960 Nordson Nereid. I will give you a picture of the end result. It has been a lot of work (!), maybe due to my desire to make it completely bulletproof en very strong yet light. The boat is now powered by a 55hp old Yamaha 2-stroke. The somewhat classic engine fits very well with the lines of the boat and when the throttle is opened.....woowwwww!...;-) Very nice indeed and rock-solid.

    Best regards, Eric

    Hello - if you're interested in Nordson's

I acquired my Nordson boat a couple of years ago. I believe it is a Nereid
It is presently undergoing a refit; to repair a frost damaged keel and some minor damage on one stern quarter, followed by a strip down and varnish. The only other major issue is to replace the cracked windscreen.
It wasn't until I started to do some research that I realised just how scarce Nordsons are and how few are in seaworthy condition.

    nereid

Indeed it is a Nereid judging the picture. It seems indeed in pretty good conditions and certainly much better than the status I bought mine....;-)

Would you have more pictures? Where do you sail the boat?

    Regards, Eric

    Hey guys,

It has been a while but i have made some progres on my nereide..!
In the meanwhile i have renovated our new home and have had a son in oct 2013...

The new bottom is complete now with the outside keel in place. I could work all winter with heating in the workshop.
I hope i can finish the bottom this spring and start on the interior and deck in the summer..

Hello fellow Nordson lovers out there!

Hopefully people still reading this thread! I've gotten a Nordson boat from an auction website last year, seems overpaid but boat was in pretty good condition. Now it is being restored (wood work) in Friesland (NL) by a wooden boat specialist. I expect this to be finished within two months.

It is a very special boat, onboard engine which seems rare. Some questions I'd like to ask for help on:
    - the strip on the side, from bow to stern, it seems chrome? they are missing, where to get new ones
    - upholstery, there are no cushions any longer. Need 2 new ones for the seats in the front and 1 for the seat in the back (bench)
    - bikini top, seems the boat used to have one. I cannot find it but did find some parts to fix it, tips welcome!
    - where to find original brochures of this boat

Anything else that may be useful is obviously also welcome!

Hopefully there are still people reading this thread and I'd love to see pictures of the progress - hopefully - Roderik has made by now.

    Cheers, Erik
