Just to clear this up I am saying a manufacturer cant build a system ( where uscg rules aply)that will shutoff the engine due to anything (for marine use). The kill switch can only be manually operated.

Id be trying to find out what the cause was , should never be that much current going through any ignition switch at any time , asking for trouble to just ignor it !!!.
if there is high draw use a better switch or fit a relay unit in the circut to take the higher loading .
Remember boats burn to the water line !!!!

 

No not true --the manula warns you of starting the engine by mistake and being dangerous.

Merc V6 engines have 2 power packs, one for each bank, some times they fail and one side of the engine keeps running . If you unplug the loom trying to stop the motor both banks light up.

 

i am pretty sure it is just the switch , when it happened the wiring and back of switch were cold.

 

are you lot going for some sort of posting record ...its an igntion switch for gods sake ..
