Hey, Florida_mariner, I'm on the Harris chain, you can skip Apopka, the pollution is so thick you'll scrub your waterline for a week after. I haven't been to the Kissimmee lakes since the drought has ended.

Fishing is pretty good and our lakes are public and free (unless you use a county or state park ramp) Our beer is colder then they have in Apopka and Kissimmee too. Drop me a line if you come down.

Sronicker, I'm building more then one all wooden boat right now. There are plenty of plans available (even free ones) for traditional construction methods that don't use goo and stick-um to embalm the things.

Personally, I have several all wood designs available and can turn you on to a bunch of others.

It's difficult for most designers to not want to rely on some of the advances in materials and adhesives we've had in the last 30 years. They can truly speed things up and make strong watertight structures, but there are literally thousands of designs that don't rely on this newer technology and methods. If interested, send me an email.

Unfortunately, I'm a little bit dense when it comes to computers and other technologically advanced devices, I don't know how to submit pictures of my little experiments, so you'll have to look it up elsewhere. Anyways, my test-pieces of the birds-mouth spar building technique have been quite rewarding, I thoroughly recommend it, my latest little twist has been to rig a temporary fence on the table-saw at an oblique angle to cut a cove on the back-side of the sticks before assembling with the strap-technique in order to make the inside of the tube circular, then I round off the outside.

    Happy spooging,

    Yokebutt.

That's a shame about Apopka...back in the 80's when I lived there they kept going on about getting it cleaned up..I guess it was wishful thinking eh?

such a waste to let such a big lake languish like that...

I lived down in Melbourne for a couple years in the 90's and lake hell n blazes
and lake Washington were haunts of mine but the fertilizers would cause blooms that at times made them alomost un navigatable ...

the water mgt people are overdue for getting their walking papers imo as with the Army Corps of eng...more harm than good imho...

I'm curious to get out towards Gainesville too to see what all the rain has done to their pathetic levels as well...all those lakes between here and there used to have long dry, out of the water docks...I wonder how they look now...
so many places so little time...this weekend the blow is so bad over here at the coast...gusting 30+...
