Hi, I have asked this question before, as have others, but I was hoping there might of been some change in the last few years.

However I still cant find anything, or anyone, on the net who can offer plans to home build a small power catamaran!

Can anyone help with my search?

I am really looking for a 17 -20' planing or displacement design that will get 20 knots + to be used for inshore fishing.

Strange that you haven't find anything online, I thought that size is one of the most popular among amateur boatbuilders. Maybe you need a custom design!
I have a couple of designs in that range, that I could modify according to your specific requirements. Send me an email or PM if you'd like further info or see some pictures.

Sounds like my Skoota powercats would suit you

You can see more by going to to the New Designs section of my website and clicking the link on the right.

I have now sold a number of the Skoota 20 plans. The first went to a fisherman on the BC/Alaska border

    Hope that helps

Thanks for the replies guys, I really do like the idea of twin outboards on a displacement design.
I would like to stick to below or around 8' (2.5mt) beam as this is the restriction on my present mooring berth.
Richard, could your hulls be used on a different format with twin motors & a narrower beam?

This is the sort of boat I would really like build - the manufacturer state .... This boat runs at a 19 knots sprint with just twin 25hp outboards or up to 26 knots with twin 40hp outboards....
How can they get a displacement hull to run so fast?

My Skoota 20 runs at 15knots with a single 25hp and it has a cabin with a double bunk and galley.

Richard you design looks great but in my instance the beam is just not practical.
I have really decided that the displacement concept is the route I would like to follow, I have read quite a bit about the way these hulls work although I would most definitely need detailed plans to work from!

I found this info to be very interesting especially because the company actually produce the 6mt boat I pictured in my previous post http://www.bwseacat.com/index_files/Page427.htm

I found this site that has a 20' cat featured but with very little details available & the costing of the plans is a bit confusing to me!
Anyhow sent them an E mail.... http://www.ccplans.com/
