    Just to clarify, I didn't say that Windows runs reliably, I said that Maxsurf runs reliably under Windows.

    Windows XP is a very stable OS but is still subject to being taken out by rogue applications. If an application crashes it is still possible for it to take out the whole OS, even though XP is significantly better than the versions of Windows that went before it.

    I am sure that OSX is better protected against badly written applications, however my point is that Maxsurf and our other programs are extremely stable pieces of software and as a result run very reliably under Windows, and certainly no less reliably than if they were running under OSX.

    My son has tried to download the academic version, which was no trouble, but upon opening gets a message 16 bit windows subsysyem the system is not suitabel for running windows applicationa, I ve tried altering compatibilty no result
    CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

    Which operating systeme are you using? Windows 95 and 98 are generally flakey, I would recommend Win 2000 as a minimum with XP being ideal.

    win xp with tonnes of bogey, thanks Andrew, the mail address you gave here Andy M etc does not work, would it be ok to give you a quick tinkle?
