    Welcome yacht07, to the forum.

None of us are going swimming without dipping our toes into the water first. We won't just dive in without knowing if there are submerged rocks for us to dash our brains. We are a careful bunch. Wynand did not say you are rude. I did not see that anywhere in his post.

It's simple. Using a canned website generator website is highly unprofessional. That is why I suggest school or hiring someone. Nobody will use your site as is.

Trust me. I'm saving you a lot of learning the hard way.

You are underestimating the hard work. This is not a canned website generator. There is a lot of time, money and at least 1000 cups of coffee invested in this website. And please stop despising me. I am 35 y/o, built 100's of boats, designed the largest (45m) epoxy composite yacht ever built in Turkey, contributed to many multinational projects, published on magazines several times and educated many young engineers in boatbuilding and design. I am not an amateur and I never start any work with amateur desires. Whatever I have done in my life so far, I have finished professionally. You do not have to save me from anything. If you have something valuable to say, I'm listening but not to your underestimating and conceited words.

I am not trying to make money out of a social network website here. All I wanted to do is to get together the people involved in boating in one single environment. At least this is what I have seen missing in our business based on my experience.

You still haven't replied to my question. How can you be so sure , while you haven't even gone through any single page other than the homepage?

Anyway... I'm sorry for disturbing you all.

Now I'm going to my bed to see some nightmares.... Good night everyone.

LoL, I remember Sinclair pretty well. I had a Commodore 64 though :) I was programming in Basic with that commodore and record them on tapes. Graphics with ASCII days .. Then I had my IBM with Intel 8086 on board!!!! Wow, 5 1/4 " 8MB hard drive. You need to remove around 30 screws to get into the case:)

Anyway, I'm glad you appreciate my work. You are right with this marketing issue. I need some help. That's why I'm talking to you now :)

Yes, I have the robots, analytics etc all setup. Meta tags , keys all in place. It's just been 10 days since I got the domain name, so it would take some more time to get crawled.

As you can see, I did not register any fake accounts. People bulk in 150k profiles in the beginning to make it look crowded. We don't need that!

Now, I am 95% done with coding (I think). All I need is some advice and help from my fellow colleagues.

Nice! So we do have common ground to start from. I see your background is mostly in computers, then?

I had a C64 as well. Tape drive, hooked up to the TV (color!! much better than the VIC 20 and Sinclair) :)

So yes, your work is good... it just needs those marketing tweaks.

It's good that you didn't put in any fake accounts, IMO. But... you still need some content too... that's a tough chicken and egg issue. Do you have a group of 20-50 people who can jump on and create content about their boats?

Definitely open the site up though.

Sorry you thought I was being mean. That wasn't my intention. It was just tough love and I didn't have time to post more than the facts. You may have seen the "help my hull is sagging" thread of mine... was a little caught up. :D

Hey, did you integrate that site with Facebook. I know it sucks, but apparently the world is on there. If you can get a very tight integration, it will help you, as friends of friends may pass your site information along to each other on there. you know... like buttons, boating groups on facebook, etc...

That's about all I have for you right now. Good luck.

    @Catbuilder
Thanks for the tough love.. That really means a lot to me :D

Yes, I have FB integration, like button, FB comments block, FB account and photo albums import.

Right, it needs a lot of content right now.

I appreciate your comments (after you have really visited the site) :)

I looked at the video. I have no idea what the website means. The thumping sound is thoroughly offputting. This forum and the Wooden Boat forum offer all that I want.

On the plus side, an additional yachting website informing readers about your region of the world would be useful.
