determining wetted keel lenght and chine lenght

    BTG YACHT DSGN -sailing is believing-

    I am currently going through the calculations (making a spreadsheet in excel) of a powerboat, along with the algorithm suggested in Larsson &Elliasson Yacht Design.

    My concern is particularly: is there any method to determine empirically the lenght of wetted keel (Lk) and wetted chine lenght (Lc)? My idea is that for a given trim angle and known force due to displacement of a vessel (of course decreasing it by the hydrodynamic force acting upwards at the same time...) I can determine the geometry of the submerged body that way and achieve Lk and Lc (by wieving it in CAD for example).

    Is my method correct? How do you deal with this problem?

    Sorry... :rolleyes: typical question of a person who first asks and secondly looks for answer... problem solved by reading again whole paragraph in a book.
